That Absolutely Amazing Woman

MrsJackRackham · 02/04/2023 13:27

I've just read about the woman who gave evidence against the killer of Olivia Pratt-Korbel. What a fucking brave and phenomenal woman. She will have to go into witness protection and leave her whole life behind but she knew it was the right thing to do. And she gave the defence lawyer a mouthful as well by the sounds of it.
I could actually cry thinking about her.

OP posts:

@Americano75 Not pedantic, just realistic.

This thread is dreadful - just women baiting and bitching at each other, trying to show off their Queen B credentials.

It just sets us back; makes us look like we're unable to participate in the legal profession as we're too over invested emotionally.

You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. A vile bunch, indeed.

Women Baiting and women Bitching. You really cannot attempt to cast aspersions on anyone with such gendered and prosaic language

The posters have been overall eloquent and balanced in explaining barrister role and responsibilities

Out of interest how does one Show off their Queen B credentials What are Queen B credentials?

And some people are tediously pedantic but there you go.

His revolting partner is a scouse woman. She’s hardly awesome.

More gullible than realistic if you took my comment literally.

I feel the same OP.

I am from Liverpool and she has the city apart from the scum absolutely behind her.

We don't like people who grass on their neighbours, granted. We absolutely support those who testify against drug dealing murderous bellends.

Shame on his barrister. There is no amount of money in the world that would incite a person with a modicum of moral integrity to defend such heinous actions.

Absolutely commending that woman's courage this evening. Bravo if you are reading this 👏

Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty , and everyone is entitled to a defence . That is the law and so someone has to defend . It is not the barristers fault

Lifeomars · 03/04/2023 23:32

I have been thinking about her a lot, what a courageous woman, hope she is safe for the rest of her life. I would like to think that nobody could question what she did and why she did it, it is appalling that she is under threat

user146539089 · 03/04/2023 23:32

I didn’t @Americano75 It’s just that some Scouse women, the partner of the murderer for example are disgusting. I agree though that the witness is awesome.
apologies for being snippy.

Our friend is a barrister sometimes for prosecution, sometimes defence, he doesn't get a choice. He so rightly doesn't discuss any cases but on occasions when you read in the local paper his defence of certain people especially when you know he's got two young girls you take need to take a breath and think not matter what they are entitled to a defence even if me and no doubt him would utterly despise the guilty person.

This is the issue. I don't think @HotSince82 has understood this, despite several people explaining it. Barristers sometimes defend innocent people, sometimes prosecute on behalf of innocent people, sometimes defend guilty people.

It's not that some work on behalf of the innocent and some morally reprehensible ones work on behalf of criminals. The same people do both and get no choice. So if nobody did the job for fear of having to represent a criminal we would have no barristers at all.

That’s two of us @Americano75 x

Utterly disgraceful.

You know exactly what you're doing and you should be banned.

Well that’s escalated! Are you ok?
Report me if you think I have ummm women baited Or women bitched
The terms you use for women are very pejorative, why is that?

The towering intellect attempt to project comes across as 'mansplaining' - you do know that, don't you?

Zone2NorthLondon · 03/04/2023 23:43

mansplaining? Thought I was woman bitching & woman baiting. Your insults somewhat baffling. Almost as if you’re just making it all up
Queen B
mansplaining
woman baiting
…whatever next

AnyaMarx · 03/04/2023 23:44

The connotation was she did it for
The reward money - no - she didn't - she hasn't even claimed it .

Good on her and I hope she lives a fabulous life from here

I hope they give
Her that money anyway . Amazing bravery from her

sleepwouldbenice · 03/04/2023 23:47

To come back to the actual post .... jeez

I was thinking about her today and will watch the program

Amazing woman and I hope she feels immensely proud

The girlfriend on the other hand. Weill I hope Liverpool and the country know who she is...

Well, people can look at you, what you write and the way that you are and make their own mind up. I have . . . and I've no time for you so I'm out.

You're a bully.

AutumnalLeaves38 · 03/04/2023 23:47

She is not in an enviable position tonight but I hope she feels endorsed and even slightly comforted by the huge admiration felt and expressed towards her stellar conduct by many thousands of people.

Absolutely this.

Verite1 · 03/04/2023 23:48

I’m intrigued as to what Zone2NorthLondon did that would cause her to be banned? Other than call out some rather misogynistic language?

AnyaMarx · 03/04/2023 23:49

She apparently received the most death threats anyone in Merseyside has - and yet still did the right thing .

Now you’re flouncing?
Ok…

Oh stop derailing fgs!

That woman was absolutely incredible. She must have known the consequences of giving evidence, and she still did it. She also has a life sentence as a result, but because of her, justice has been done. I don't know if I could have been as brave, but I hope she knows how much she is admired.

I’ll answer were I am directly addressed that isnt a derail.it’s a legitimate response
Do take time to go back and instruct others not to derail too
Op has not returned and the thread has developed regards the role & responsibility of barristers

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 04/04/2023 00:01

The woman was amazing & I do hope she has a brilliant life ahead of her.
Without going into details I was always always told that harming a child was non negotiable in the criminal code, that you deserved to be grassed up.
Any known associates of Thomas Cashman looking for revenge will most likely be sorted.

User8646382 · 04/04/2023 00:06

The girlfriend did the right thing. Not that she had much choice. He knew she knew, so her life was already on the line. I suppose you could call her ‘brave’, but let’s keep things in perspective. The ‘absolutely amazing woman’ here is this poor child’s mother, who had to drag herself into court to relive the horror of what that murdering scumbag did, just to get a bit of justice. I haven’t got much sympathy left for the girlfriend of the scumbag, who knew what he was when she shacked up with him.

I’m glad she shopped him. I doubt whether she was motivated by anything more than self-preservation, but who knows? Maybe she suddenly discovered she had a conscience.
