How long does it take this miracle cream to work?

Started on Tretinoin a few weeks ago, I’m moving up to putting it on 3 nights per week next week. So far, no bad reactions, thank goodness, but….when will I have better skin and see good results?
I’m 45 and am using it in the hopes of having smoother skin/less wrinkles, will if/does it really do this?

I use it nightly and it was probably a couple of months before I could see a difference.

Whatisthisshitimwatching · 01/04/2023 21:42

@BennyBlancofromtheBronx Did you go straight in using it every night? How much did you use each time?

I'd say a good 6 months. Tret is a long game ingredient rather than a quick fix. I'd used retinol for about 2-3 years and then moved onto Tret. It's not that you suddenly look 10 years younger, it's just that you suddenly look at your skin and think "blimey I look good for my age"
I've used 0.05 for almost a year now, though I still only use it 2-3 times a week or my skin gets sore.

I’ve been using Skin & Me for 3 months now and I definitely see the difference. I liked them because they do the thinking for you and send you your prescribed cream every month. If anyone wants a code, let me know.

Whatisthisshitimwatching · 01/04/2023 21:54

@PoshCoffee Is it the same stuff? I got mine from the chemist (I’m not in U.K.)

PoshCoffee · 01/04/2023 21:55

Ah, right. Yes it’s the same stuff. My skin is definitely smoother

Ktime · 01/04/2023 21:57

What is this and what does it do? Thanks

Whatisthisshitimwatching · 01/04/2023 21:59

@PoshCoffee How often do you use and how much do you put on? I’m literally putting a pea sized amount on, not sure it’s enough

OP posts:
PoshCoffee · 01/04/2023 22:01

Skin&Me send the cream in a doser so you use the correct amount each day. I’ve no idea how much it is, probably pea sized. Like I said before, they do the thinking, I just put it in my face each night 😃

It's never more than a pea sized amount for your entire face. Never.

Agree.

Never use more than a pea size amount- anymore and your skin will hurt!

It is a long game though- I would say 3 to 6 months before you will look in the mirror and see a difference.

Whatisthisshitimwatching · 01/04/2023 22:09

A pea sized amount over your whole face doesn’t go that far though 😬Which areas do you put it on? Would you do on crows feet around the eyes?

AnuSTart · 01/04/2023 22:16

I'm sold. I'm going to order some. Do you put it on eyelids?

BennyBlancofromtheBronx · 01/04/2023 22:16

I use a very basic hydrating serum first, and let that sink in before I apply the tret (I also use skin & me which gives the correct dose). I find that gives just enough slip.

I use it all over my face except my eyelids.

deltablue · 01/04/2023 22:17

It's one of only 3 things that is actually proven to work on skin - vitamin c (topical),daily factor 50 sunscreen - even in winter- and this. bUT you need prescription for the good stuff. I've used Obagi and built up to 0.1 % which is the strongest and honestly it is game changing. No pigmentation, fine lines gone. I'm 57. A good private clinic or derma can prescribe - it takes a couple of months to see results and be prepared for a LOT of flaking on between . It's worth it

PM me if you want a discount code for skin & me (if you're uk based).

deltablue · 01/04/2023 22:19

Forgot to say- you mix a pea sized blob with a blender cream- that's also important

NeverDropYourMooncup · 01/04/2023 22:21

It goes far enough - it's the consistency of application that matters (and sunblock/occlusives).

Otherwise, you'll have crow's feet and sore, damaged skin glowing like a traffic light.

Whatisthisshitimwatching · 01/04/2023 22:27

@NeverDropYourMooncup Is it ok to use around eyes?

OP posts:
Whatisthisshitimwatching · 01/04/2023 22:28

@deltablue Ive not flaked at all yet, is that normal?
