Little background - Our oven is broken so we have been unable to make ds any food so have had to buy jars today.

While in shop buying said jars 2 old women moan at me I should food ds proper food and that children should be taken away from their parents if they aren't fed real food.
This made me feel really upset I didnt think feeding a baby jars of food would be a reason for having your baby taken away, ds doesnt have any real junk food. He'll have a rusk every now and then.

AIBU to have wanted to shout at them?

I love OrmIrian's 'grumpy old person for every occasion' comment - quote of the week, I think

I think I would have said Fuck off it's none of your business.

Interesting point though, I was complaining to my Mum after some old battleaxe in Debenhams told me I was really fat (I am, but it's none of her business ).

Anyway, my Mum is a clinical psychologist, and explained to me that as people get older, there is an inevitable amount of brain cell death, and most of this occurs in the frontal lobes, which are responsible for behaviour monitoring. It helps me to think that when people say things like this, it is because they are brain damaged and can't help it. (PMSL about one-way flight to Zurich!)

It doesn't help me to dwell on my mum's 'inevitable' part of her explanation, because it basically means we are all doomed to become pass-remarkable old biddies.

Actually it was as much a comment on MN than anything. So many MNers seems to find a readymade Greek chorus of opinionated old folk whatever they are doing. Do you think they stalk us?

you have to shout at them though otherwise they can't hear you
