School report - codes

just had a parents evening for ds, after the teacher gave me and dh a sheet with some codes on about his progress

I probably sound dim but surely there should be a key with this?

writing is code w
reading is code w -
maths is code w -

She said he'd made progress but I still don't understand the codes!!

Everyone school has its own system. Just email them and ask for the key.

Every school has its own system I'd hazard a guess at:
W = Working at expected level
W - = Working below expected level
W+ = Working above expected level

But a W- maybe nothing to concern yourself about if they are comparing it to where he should be at the end of the school year.

Asking the school to explain would be your best bet.

I think the above codes sound about right. My dcs have all got working below, I think the scores can be a bit demoralising.

Dcs teacher talks a lot about 'national standard'.I am not sure many in their class are at the expected at the moment.
