It's everywhere! Not just all over here, but at work it seems to be all my colleagues discuss. Meal planning this, weight loss that, favourite chocolate Easter Eggs, and so on. Even on the tube, I sat by two women who talked about their favourite Gousto meals the whole journey and whether they could/should/would lose weight eating said Gousto meals. AIBU to have no interest in food? Meal times come, I eat, sometimes I like what I eat better than others. I generally don't think about it before or after. Surely I cannot be the only person?

YANBU, as we all have different priorities. It does seem like a rather joyless approach to one of life’s great pleasures, but each to her own!

YANBU, that would bore me too. I am on a low carb diet which takes quite a bit of planning but I hate talking about it with colleagues.

Sympathies. My DD1 is a T1 diabetes, and carb-counting has rather killed any pleasure in cooking and meal prep for me currently!

I have a history of AN and still think of food more than is probably healthy. I eat enough and am a healthy weight these days though. However, I cannot get over how some of my colleagues speak about food. It’s like what I used to see on pro-ana forums at times and makes me so anxious. I would love to see dieting spoke about less.

Different People, difference tastes, but food is a common conversation topic

Discwriter · 30/03/2023 00:37

I agree OP, I don't care about food either. I eat whatever is around when I get hungry, miss lunch often and happy with a bowl of cereal for dinner. My dh absolutely loves food though, thinking about it, meal planning, new recipes, shopping, and of course eating it - he reminds me of Bubba in Forrest Gump with the shrimp!

EmmaEmerald · 30/03/2023 00:50

I agree OP but I'm fat
Go figure 🤷🏻‍♀️
Honestly, food is boring to me. That might be why I'm fat, in a way, I can't get excited about having had a salmon fillet tonight, I wish I could. Give me a nice bowl of ice cream, that interests me, but I'm not interested enough to talk about it!

EllieM27 · 30/03/2023 02:49

I agree completely. Food doesn’t really interest me. I like it well enough and am a good cook but it’s still rather tedious as a whole. Whenever people question me about not eating sweets or crisps or whatever I always have a hard time explaining that yes, I do like them fine but I’m not bothered enough to procure and eat them. It just never crosses my mind. I think it must be related to my ADHD. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I hate diet talk but I have a long history with ED. I only like talking about food with 'safe' people, as in people who won't turn it into diet or weight gain topic.
I like food talk if it's about what you're prepping or cooking but I don't like competitive snobby chats about food or putting down others taste.

Around Easter and Christmas there is a lot of food talk.

I've made an entire career out of food.
I have not made a career out of weight loss.
They're very different things. Some people enjoy food, some people don't care. Hold the front page.
