“Someone matched with you on Tinder”

I’ve seen loads of threads on here about people finding dodgy emails from Tinder and similar sites in their partners emails. Now, I don’t know what’s going on with my Hotmail but I am suddenly getting bombarded with Tinder match emails, Ukrainian girls wanting to hook up with me, and I also apparently win several air fryers every week.

Clearly this is all spam - I’ve never signed up for a dating website, have no interest in girls of any nationality, and don’t need an air fryer let alone dozens of them. Having had my email for 22 years with no issues, my address has obviously wound up in some sort of spam campaign.

AIBU to think that sometimes these partners are getting accused of things they just haven’t done? I can understand on first glance why it looks bad, but it’s not always the case!

Me and my partner get these sometimes. People either getting the email wrong or someone doing it maliciously or for a laugh. I'm female and get bombarded with people wanting my dick from time time. Now it's airfryers and stuff from comet. I blame my ex but it's been 10 years now you think he would get over it. I can see how if people don't trust their partners it might be a problem. Usually a hotmail.com instead of a .co.uk

I can’t think that anyone has given my email on purpose, I suspect my address has found itself on some list or other. I’m not clicking any links but assume it’s not the genuine Tinder site and would instal some sort of malware.

I posted this as if I’d found these emails on my husbands account it would have raised eyebrows. Not everything is as it seems!!

If you open your email account on your laptop and hover the mouse over the sender's name you will see who has sent it. If it's just a random jumble of letters then it's spam. If it has been sent by tinder than the address will be plain and that's how you know whether someone is up to anything.

Thanks @determinedtomakethiswork , good tip. I’m not too worried as most is now going into spam, but today I had 31 new spam emails about Tinder and air fryers!

YANBU

Every few days I match with someone on tinder - I find them in my juke folder.

I don’t have the app and have never been on it.
