Please come out it's cold here and the washing is on the airer.

Would have loved to have got the garden chair out today and sat out. Not looking promising for this week either.
No wonder lots of people move to Spain and the Canaries etc.

Hedjwitch · 26/03/2023 18:20

There's already a thread of people dreading summer!

Riverlee · 26/03/2023 18:25

i’m fed up with the grey, rainey weather as well.

BooksAndHooks · 26/03/2023 18:27

Yes very fed up, want to get the garden sorted but it’s too wet to walk on the grass, can’t sweep up properly y as it’s permanently wet. Was looking forward to Easter hunt in the garden and having family out there, but not hopeful at this point.

larkstar · 26/03/2023 18:31

I'm completely fed up with the miserable wet weather. I walk my dog every day and the relentless mud is depressing - the dog gets filthy and needs a wash outside before I'll let her back in the house... I've already suggested I will go away for 3 months to Spain from Dec - it's possible - I have a campervan. I feel I'm more affected by the winter now than I've ever been - I never used to notice it TBH.

Mañanarama · 26/03/2023 18:32

It has been the longest winter* I ever remember. Awful.

*and by winter I mean “period of time in which I have not worn shorts or flip flops” which is at least six months.

fdgdfgdfgdfg · 26/03/2023 18:34

This weekend last year I was walking round Alton Towers in shorts and T-shirt. We've had some sunshine between showers today but nothing to compare to that!

Whitacre · 26/03/2023 18:49

It’s been unusually dreary here (near Reading) for months-we have solar panels and every month since November last year has been the dullest compared with the same month in all of the last 5 years (I can only look back 5 years) ☹️

pilates · 26/03/2023 19:02

South east here and have the log burner on

pictoosh · 26/03/2023 19:12

I don’t mind the cold so much but I miss the light. It has been largely dull and great for weeks now. The immediate forecast isn’t looking good either. We went out on bikes today and did get some sun. It felt like a reprieve.
God I need some light.

pictoosh · 26/03/2023 19:12

I agree. In other years I've sat in beer gardens by now. It's fucking freezing here and I'm still sleeping with a hot water bottle every night.

bubbles2023 · 26/03/2023 19:21

Yesterday and today have been sunglasses weather. First time it hasn't rained at some point in the day in months. We went for a walk in the beach with dog then sat outside in a beer garden. We're in Ireland.

Lockheart · 26/03/2023 19:25

We've just had the driest February in 30 years and our water levels are desperately low. We need some serious rain in the UK I'm afraid, or else we'll be back into drought conditions before summer really hits and then the farmers and the wildlife will really suffer (and so will we, when the food prices go up again as a consequence!).

It's been a very dry and for the most part quite sunny spring. The last week has been changeable across the country. We had lovely sunshine yesterday in the midlands but grey weather today.

Driest February in 30 years for England

England had its driest February in 30 years according to provisional figures from the Met Office, as meteorological winter concluded with a dry and mild month for most.

I'm glad it's not just me. We're used to crap weather here in Scotland but this is relentless. Photos from this time last year and Easter show us sitting in the garden. Currently, the heating is on

Easter last year was unseasonably warm though. In fact the whole of 2022 was unnaturally warm. It's the warmest year for the UK on record.

We can't expect record breaking temperatures all the time.

I’ve had 6 hours at the side of a netball court watching a tournament today. Last year, we were in t-shirts & sunglasses, today it was all dry robes & wellies. The netball was fabulous but I’m utterly sick of being cold, wet and muddy!

CatCake · 26/03/2023 19:53

Totally agree. Fully fed up of being freezing. Desperate for some dry, warm weather.

Twinedpeaks · 26/03/2023 21:41

I was walking around in a dress last week! It was 16C

userxx · 26/03/2023 22:39

Good Friday is looking sunny 😎

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/03/2023 22:42

It has been foul in London for weeks, and no change on the horizon. I'm pissed off because autumn and spring are usually my favourite seasons but recently we just tip from winter to summer to winter to summer...and we're probably about to do it again.

That's the problem, isn't it? We never get jacket weather anymore in the south east.

Endlesssummer2022 · 26/03/2023 22:52

As soon as the sun comes out and it goes above 15C, there will be multiple threads from people crying about heatwaves and wishing it was cold again so they can feel ‘cozy’. They get at least 9 months a year of ‘cozy’ weather. I’m sick to fucking death of winter now.

RoseDog · 26/03/2023 22:53

We had some wee snow showers today in NE Scotland, dd just finished work and had to defrost her car!

pictoosh · 27/03/2023 06:56

Clocks went forward so I’ve been plunged back into darkness on my morning run. Very frosty this morning, bitterly cold. Quite beautiful. But DARK. Ugh.
