to ask why people don’t reverse in?

to parking spaces…
i know the safest is to reverse in and
drive out, so why do 95% of all cars drive in?
every time I go shopping I see cars desperately trying to get out of their parking bay with cars and walkers going past, whilst if they had reversed in they would get out so easily.

it makes zero sense.

Another reason, aside from access to the boot, is narrow spaces. If spaces are limited and the only option is to park somewhere that is going to be tight on one side I would choose to reverse or not depending on how the other cars are parked so that I am able to give more room on a neighbouring cars driver side.

I find it much easier to reverse in than drive straight in so yesterday when I was parking in the supermarket carpark, I decided to drive in. I chose a space where there was only one line of cars so there wouldn't be a car in front or behind me and the space to my left was also free. I went in and out so much trying to manoeuvre the car so it was straight between the lines. I just hope nobody was looking at me. I ended up driving out of the space and reversing back into it to line the car up. Its way harder to drive forwards into a space!

I always reverse in, in case of accidents in supermarket car park.

There are drivers who never properly learned reverse parking between 2 cars in a car park, so for them it is easier to reverse out into the driveway. I always reverse park onto my own drive, the boot is nearer my front door so more useful. For personal safety reversing into parking spaces is also recommended.
