Not really aibu but why?
I'm white, eastern European, and Dp is white Welsh. We live in a Welsh town. New tenant white Welsh has moved in, and abused me with xenophobic language. She was reported to the police for a hate incident - they earned her. She is now hopefully moving.
I overheard her talking to a neighbour saying she was happy to move away from "the black house next door" . Our house is a cream terraced house, red wall, white windowframes - no black anywhere. The only term "black house " dp could think of was the old historic highland cottage type.
I then heard her referring to me as "that black woman" several times. See above, I am not and could not be described as black. I don't wear much black, my hair is blonde.
I do not consider being called "black" as a term of abuse. The Carribbean women I work with are admirable, strong, resilient a great friends. In fact I would be proud to be likened to them. This soon to be ex neighbour does not know this.
My question is - why is she calling me black?
I would understand if she called me a rude name but I don't believe being called "black" is an insult.
