So we live in a block of flats. Our buzzer just rang as our neighbours had forgotten their keys so could I buzz them in. I replied with "for fucks sake"'and let them in, they woke me DH and DCs and apparently I'm in the wrong. I'll be up at 7am tomorrow (well today I guess)?to take one DC to sports so AIBU to knock on their door then to check that have their keys in case they need to get in while we're out?

How did they get into their flat?

This?

JudgeRudy · 25/03/2023 16:56

Who actually said you're in the wrong? The neighbours? Of course you're not. It's a reasonable reaction to some extremely antisocial behaviour......however saying that....if I was in a similar situation to your neighbours I'd be inclined to do the same. It was a disruption to your evening to help someone in an emergency. They should have hung their heads, thanked you profusely and scurried in quietly. I'd be expecting an 'apology visit' today....maybe a card/wine/cicolates too.

Presumably her H as it woke him up too

Just switch the buzzer off at night when you go to bed

I think there was no need to swear at them. It is hardly the end of the world, did you really want them to sit outside all night.

I think it was right that the neighbours knew they have inconvenienced someone.

Ducksinthebath · 25/03/2023 18:16

You can let someone know you’re inconvenienced without swearing though.

outwiththeoldinwiththenewish · 25/03/2023 18:25

Total over reaction to helping a neighbour out. If it was the second or third time I'd get it, but swearing and then coming on a forum to slag them off..? God forbid you ever need help!

Yep - if OP had said "do you realise what time it is?" They'd almost certainly have apologised.

IHaveNoSpecialTalent · 25/03/2023 19:28

To those asking how they got in to their flat, they have a key box outside the flat but not one for the front door.
I was irrationally angry as I'm peri menopausal and suffering from insomnia so being woken up is bloody torturous right now.
I'm off to try and turn the buzzer off with a kirby grip, have a glass of wine and chill out!
Have a great weekend folks

As a one off, it wouldn’t bother me.

Northernsouloldies · 25/03/2023 19:33

Op you had every right to be pissed off, hopefully it's a one off n the silly fuckers sort out having a front door key. 😁

HappyHolidays22 · 25/03/2023 20:05

Enjoy your evening OP!

I thought the buzzer switch isn't working? Were u able to switch it off?

Webmeister999 · 09/09/2023 00:22

I used to live in a tower block and people were always ringing to be buzzed in. By habit I turned my buzzer off if I was not expecting anyone. Quite often I forgot about it for days. I live in a house now with a ring type doorbell but the sound is turned off at present.

What's wrong with you?

You reply to a zombie thread from March. But you don't even give any advice just waffle on about your own experience.

You literally reopened an old thread to talk about yourself.

Grow up and dont sweat the small stuff.

Grow up and dont sweat the small stuff.

I know that's what you should do

Good luck!
