things I like about sleeping alone

What are yours?
I'm single 18 months and just starting to like it- the bit I have started to really like is the sleeping alone bit because:
I can go to bed anytime and fall asleep and not be disturbed by someone else getting in
I don't have to cope with ex's stinking farts that would wake me up!
I can sleep in the middle of the bed
Nobody wakes me up when they can't sleep/ feel ill/ have to get up early

How do you lot feel about it?

I sleep alone since H's major surgery. Can't see us sleeping in same room again.

I love having both windows open.

Thing is, I still sleep on the edge of the mattress despite having a superking sized bed.

H sleeps on 'my side' of the bed in his room. I don't know why - but this annoys me. Grin

I dread going on holiday when we're forced to share a bed. I don't sleep and end up with about 2 months worth of a bad back - possibly due to being tense from trying not to fall out due to balancing on the edge.

I can't bear the heat of two bodies in such close proximity - it's suffocating. That's the menopause for you - the HRT doesn't quite get rid of the heat.

My DH and I live in different houses about 1.5 miles apart . Initially this was when my son was a teenager and I refused to side with DH (not his dad) DH is a tidy freak and I and kids are just normal ... that has all long since passed and all get in like a house on fire but we did 12 years together and now 7 years apart and absolutely bloody love it.

See DH 3 or 4 times a week.. sometimes all week sometimes not at all .. but I see him (and he sees me) when we want to. It's like date night every week and I still get excited to spend the night with him.. but my God do I LOVE my alone nights !
So many friends are confused and describe us as separated.. it couldn't be further from the truth . We are extremely married. Speak on the phone multiple times a day. Share holidays, future plans , etc just don't want to be in each other's spaces ..

Honestly this sounds fucking amazing

Happily married but also sleep in separate bedrooms. We both love it and sleep much better this way. We have different sleep patterns so we aren’t disturbing each other in the evening or the morning.

There is a reason why single women with no kids are the happiest Grin

Yup 🤗

didn't wealthy married couples always sleep alone, or at least have their own rooms? I thought it changed in the 50s or something.

Currently sleeping separately from dh because of a 4mo baby im cosleeping with (so not technically alone), but I love it. I actively miss my dh so want to see him in the morning, rather than resent him for his night waking and general sleep sabotage.

He, however, sleeps better when in with me so sulks when I used to suggest it (before baby). Not sure how to deal with it after baby is in a cot/own room, but possibly wait till he falls asleep then take cover in my own bed elsewhere...

This is the most appealing that marriage has ever sounded

Normalise THIS! Sounds like heaven.

I'm not a fan of sleeping alone so I got a dog :-)
Luckily she's not very 'windy' but she snores like a train.

Bluesandwhites · 22/03/2023 23:17

@Howtostart
What a great life, you have nailed it!

MakingTheVeganYorkshirePud · 22/03/2023 23:20

I'm not single but 5 nights out of 7 I do sleep alone due to work patterns.

I love being able to fall asleep without someone moving, breathing heavily or snoring. The 2 nights we do sleep together I get blindingly drunk so I can block the above out 🤣.
