Marriage/LTR v weekend life

AIBU to think that some men and women leave a LTR when family life gets dull or demanding … to have an alternate life, with child free time and no life stresses with a new partner may seem appealing?

No, of course YANBU. I think this is a very common phenomenon.

I can see the appeal. I have no help with childcare so the majority of quality time spent with DH is with DC there. I'd love to be able to have carefree child free nights away but probably little chance of that in the next decade. If I split with DH I would have child free time. I have no intention of doing this but if a person's marriage was rocky I can see why they might.

reality tough then want to go part time…. Like job. But it’s a family ? Little consideration for how the children’s lives will be mashed together with other random children and relatives of both new partners., their baggage … Then the newly separated brag about their new lives and encourage friends to do the same, as though they are wrong to stay through the tough times.

my own parents separated when I was young and suspect this influences my feelings. Seemed as though once they got rid of each other they got on with their new lives and we got lumbered with whoever they were with at the time

One of my friends has shared custody with the kids she gets tonnes of time on her own
I'm not jealous
