Not really, obviously, just gobsmacked at the brass neck. Who are these people? How do they get my name? How many friend requests do they send out in an average day? how many people respond to them? I thought I recognised him from a local hobby group, so accepted the request, but have unfriended him now.

Is this a full time job for some people?

Do they make a living out of it?

Should we all give it a go and stop worrying about UC, sick pay, salaries, and pay rises?

Who has contacted you? What became of it?

The guy in the pic is very busy. He's a physiotherapist, a doctor, a surgeon and 'helps'the military. Pretty sure he sells knocked off phones too.

A friend of my OH was contacted by a handsome 45 year old foreign “senior police officer” and she fell for it. Thing is though….HE sent money to HER!

He flirted for a few weeks and then told her he wanted to set up a security business with her in the UK. So, he sent her around £5k for safekeeping.

A week later, he asked her to pay it into a different account in his name. It was obviously a money laundering thing, he was washing the money through her current account. Once she had transferred the money, he disappeared.

He had done it with multiple women, it transpires. He was using the profile pic and name of an innocent middle-aged man who knew nothing about what was going on.

I've had the military surgeon in Syria requests and various American military men.🤨 I decline the requests immediately!

There's a programme on BBC 1 on a morning where they help people find out they're being scammed! All the stories start like this and all end up with sending large amounts of money, and we are talking sums of money I'd be unhappy lending to a close friend or family member!!

What’s really horrible is that they make them pretty obviously dodgy so they know those who do respond are likely to be vulnerable and over-trusting. It’s a numbers game, they send out loads.

These poor army surgeons have the worst luck as well. They struggle to access money, always get ill and end up with big hospital fees abroad, get kidnapped, have to pay to leave the country they are in, the list in endless!
And they never have any family or friends to help them.
It's a tough life!
