Cheating and mobiles.

Seeing the threads on here about people messaging each other and having affairs or trying too etc.
Do more affairs happen now because you can message people whereas before technology you couldn't really?
Just Pondering How did people conduct affairs etc before mobile phones?

Well unless someone on here has been conducting a lifetime of affairs and now in their 60/70's its a pretty difficult thing to answer or quantify. But I suppose having every ex or whoever at the click of a button must definitely make it easier.

I'd say more affairs probably happen now than before in part because of the ease of access mobile phones, apps and things like that have provided. < On the flip side I'd also argue that it's also down to similar reasons why relationships lack the longevity they once did - of course societal change along the way but it still plays a role.

I think back in the day you'd have an affair with Bob or Sue from down the road and that would be that.

Going by comments on other threads on mn, it seems that most people don't want to work at relationships any more. If it's not 110% perfect at any point, just move on.

Even as a child in the 60s I can recall my mother and her best mate gossiping about women in out street who had a " fancy man", how they knew I have no idea.

Obviously no mobiles then, in fact most of us didn't have a telephone in the house.

I don't think people have changed that much, it has always gone on. Probably easier back then as you leave a digital trace wherever you go now.

They used the house phone and took it into another room for secrecy.
Where there's a will there's a way as the saying goes.

No doubt that Messaging apps and your own phone and Facebook has made it easier though.
