Stressful job

Work is very stressful, high pressure and even before this week has begun, it's already going to shit.

How do you cope with a high pressured stressful role and turn off when you're not working? It's making me ill.

You need really strong boundaries. In the last year I have reinforced my boundaries massively. I switch my work phone off, turn off my PC and switch it off at the plug and have deleted every work related password from my own tech (used to be dreadful at checking emails to see what was going on).

I plan something after work, usually a gym or yoga session and really have learned to leave it behind.

I've also stopped any and every colleague from using my personal phone. I'm in charge, I don't make friends at work, there's no reason for anyone to have my personal phone number. It is a switch - work / home - never the twain shall meet.

I know I'm in for a dreadful week next week but it no longer bothers me as much at the weekend.

My old boss became pretty ill from stress and she started meditating and it helped her a lot.

Unfortunately it can be quite hard to start the practice when you’re already very stressed. But all the best with it, or anything else you try.

So did I @vincettenoir. Hugely stressed, blood pressure through the roof, suspected heart attack. I had to have three weeks off and changed it overnight when I went back.

I was fortunate. Also the pills helped, in the early days the pills from the cardiologist just wiped me out, I couldn't stay awake for the first ten days.

Made me force a change. I do do a couple of meditation classes a week but feel like restorative yoga helps me more or a session in the gym.
