Should I go to the docs for this? Pics attached

so I found this small raised lump on my crease between bum and leg. I haven’t noticed it before. It seems bluey grey in colour and doesn’t hurt or itch. It’s sort of seems under the skin rather than sitting on top. I don’t want to waste the docs time but I’m a worrier. Should I get it seen? Sorry for the crappy pics but it’s hard taking pictures there!!

Looks like a blood blister

Gymrabbit · 19/03/2023 19:14

It is probably fine but there are certain skin cancers that initially look like small dark blood blisters. They can become very serious.
please get it checked out. X

GiveMe5 · 19/03/2023 19:15

Probably nothing sinister but always best to get anything unusual checked out.

Holliegee · 19/03/2023 19:18

I thought maybe a ingrown hair - but best to get it checked.

i had a huge lump in my groin where my vagina meets my bum in the crease - had to go to the GP after my usually unflysterable Dh panicked - to stride the couch in her room (I hadn’t seen her before) whilst she thoroughly checked it out …… turned out to be an unerupted boil but so I didn’t have a wasted trip she decided to remove a huge skin tag from my inner thigh 🙄.

Secretboringsister · 19/03/2023 19:19

If you have any doubts go to the doctor. That’s a blessing of being in the U.K.

xnyl · 19/03/2023 19:20

If it's grown or not gone within a week I'd go the GP.

BrowniesnotBlondies · 19/03/2023 19:29

I had a new mole-type thing on my forearm. I showed it to the pharmacist (easier than your bum) who said pretty sure was nothing/not urgent but to get checked by GP.

Did e-consult, with photo. Got given an face to to face with a GP - mine was an age spot sobs, kind of. GP gave it a more medical name...but I read between the lines and said "so it is an age spot" and she sheepishly grinned and me and nodded. But she said 100% did the right thing to check it out.

Mine nothing like yours - but I did not waste the GP's time with an age spot. Go and get it checked.

I have something that looks exactly the same as yours OP on my wrist. It's a slightly raised blueish-grey lump. It's been there for over 15 years...I did mention it once to my GP but she said it was nothing to worry about...so I didn't 🤷‍♀️

Oh...and she said it was called a blue nevus.

I've got one on my wrist as well. It's been there a very long time (can't remember when I first noticed it - maybe 25-30 years ago). I've never bothered mentioning it to a doctor, and it's never caused me any issues.

IsItMeOrEveryoneElse · 19/03/2023 20:10

Look up blue nevus

Oooiwanna · 19/03/2023 20:34

@SpringIntoChaos thnks spring. Yes it looks very similar. I’m not sure how long I’ve had this one as I don’t tend to look closely at my bum crease! I have a very small similar one on my tummy which has been there for about 10 years or so. And yes blue nevus looks similar. Thanks l!

@BrowniesnotBlondies glad it was nothing serious but I imagine not nice to hear it was age related 😂

I'd assume ingrowing or unemerged hair that's infected.

BellePeppa · 19/03/2023 21:19

I’ve got an almost identical photo of the same thing in more or less the same place!😯I agree it’s really hard to see it in a mirror or phone camera. Like you I’m concerned but felt a gp would just dismiss me (I’ve been fobbed off before and it turned out to be a completely unrelated tumour - two decades ago). I keep wondering if it was skin cancer why would it be there (it doesn’t see much in the way of daylight). Are you going to the gp? I’d be interested in what they say and how they react to it. I know I will make an appt for myself after seeing this thread. I may even show them this thread if they’re dismissive.

BellePeppa · 19/03/2023 21:22

Mine has been there at least a few weeks. I took a photo when I first felt it and another a couple of weeks ago to see if it’s changed but I can’t tell because it’s such an awkward place the photos are very clear.

NOT very clear!

Gymrabbit · 20/03/2023 07:43

BellePeppa

not all skin cancers are sun related.
In face modular melanoma (which is what a dome shaped mole would be) is not.
Still more likely to be a blue Nevus (which is the medical term for mole) but don’t think that because it’s on an area protected from the sun that it can’t be cancer.

😬 I am concerned about it but it’s so annoying because I can’t see it properly, it feels small and as a bit of a ‘head’. The area around it isn’t red or dark or angry looking but I don’t know how much it looks like the OP’s. If I go to the gp and they say it’s nothing do I just take their word for it?

I wanted to google it to check it (and blue Marcus) but is ‘in face’ a typo as it’s not coming up (did you mean in fact?).

Nevus not Marcus! My typo 😁

It was probably supposed to be ‘in fact’?

Gymrabbit · 21/03/2023 23:24

Apologies there were 2 typos/autocorrects.
It should say ‘in fact, Nodular melanoma…’
