Happy Mothering Sunday to all of you lovely people who are of a mothering nature, be that female, male, people with kids or people without kids.

Thinking of those people who will find today hard, for whatever reason.

Have a lovely day, everyone!

Sam???

Redebs · 19/03/2023 08:41

What a pathetic thing to write OP!

Mothers Day.
Men can't be mothers.

Happysalley · 19/03/2023 08:42

Happy Mother's day! 💐

I woke up to a lovely homemade card from dd8. Had to tickle ds6 into submission to get a happy Mother's day from him! We're off to Tesco cafe for breakfast later then I'll ask force them to choose me a gift each from the Mother's day gift aisle. I've had my eye on the biscuit tin and fluffy hoodie.

I feel so sad reading all the posts from women that feel let down by their partners. This was me 4 years ago in a bad relationship. Being a single mother is tough but nothing compared to being with that sadistic twat.

I think wishing people a happy mothers day when they might be feeling utterly miserable about it is a bit odd but I appreciate the sentiment.

Perhaps you ought to re-read the post then, and you might see what I actually said.

itsabigtree · 19/03/2023 08:45

No because my Dad was an abusive prick (who's dead now) and my mother didn't protect me, so I find it hard to celebrate either of them.

Obviously sorry to hear that.
But it was just an example, not the point of my post.

Not everything has to include everybody, all the time.

Ah, kids are a delight, aren't they 😂

You are amazing!

Thanks @Haraebo and the Sam to you

As for the other posters wanting to turn everything into an argument , away and chase yourselves

OP was looking for an argument.
Why else is it in AIBU?

OP was looking for an argument.
Why else is it in AIBU?

I wasn't looking for an argument at all, and as I am on my way out the door, I don't have time for one.

It is in AIBU because of reading the posts about people who are already down today.

Are you saying that males can't have the qualities that a mother has? If so, I take your point.

But you can't say that, so I don't.

Well, given I wasn't saying that at all, you're not very bright.

I am saying Mother's Day is for mothers (or women in equivalent roles). Father's Day is for fathers (or men in equivalent roles)

I presume you're trying to be deliberately goady, but HTH anyway.

LadyHaHaHeeHaw · 19/03/2023 08:22

What a lovely post and sentiment shame a couple of posters didn't get the memo
Take it for what it is @EarringsandLipstick , not everything needs to turn into an argument
Hope you have a lovely day @Haraebo

Idiotic people who decide that a day for mothers has to be for men, when there is just such a day in a few months do need this pointing out.

No memo needed for this nonsense. 🙄

EarringsandLipstick · 19/03/2023 09:41

Mardy arses, look elsewhere for your kicks today

Don't be insulting and dim

The day is not for men. They have a day. Why does everything for women need to be widened so it's applicable to men too?

It's about facts, not 'getting kicks'

Happy Mother’s Day to all celebrating, man, woman or non-binary

EarringsandLipstick · 19/03/2023 09:43

the other posters wanting to turn everything into an argument , away and chase yourselves

Or posters who like words to have meanings and facts to have some bearing on how we proceed.

Only women can be mothers.

HuggingtheHRT · 19/03/2023 09:45

"Why on earth does 'Mothering' Sunday have to include males?"

I know two single Dads raising their kids without any input from (absent) Mum's. Single parents - whether Mums or Dads - have to step up and fill both roles. I think that entitles them to a card and bit of toast in bed.

Don't be silly.

I'm a single mother raising 3 DC with no support from their father. I don't expect any special treatment on Father's Day, because I'm not a father.

Equally you can appreciate parents and their work every day as you wish.

But Mother's Day is not for men.

😂😂😂😂

You're funny. And clearly not able to read. Stop telling people what to do.

EarringsandLipstick · 19/03/2023 09:48

And oh @LadyHaHaHeeHaw

This is AIBU - so OP is inviting opinion on whether she is being UR or not. Her choice. And - she is.

It's a shame you haven't figured out how the forum works yet.

HuggingtheHRT · 19/03/2023 09:49

In other news, a mix up in my kid's class meant that I opened another mums Mother's Day card this morning. 🤦🏻 I hope she has mine!!

BreviloquentBastard · 19/03/2023 09:52

Well done OP, got to applaud you on how efficiently you managed to get everyone's hackles up and bickering first thing Mother's Day morning. Bravo.

MrsRickAstley · 19/03/2023 09:54

FGS can't even have Mother's Day 🙄

Nope. Not for men.

smashinggrapes · 19/03/2023 09:58

And for all those saying this was a "well intentioned post". It wasn't. The capitalised ALL in the title gives it away for what it is. Another chance to ram dicks into our spaces
