To be sad that Tesco are reducing the value of Clubcard Rewards

Used to be 3 x value of your points, now it's twice the value. I remember when it was four times the value 😟

We save ours all year for a much needed and looked forward to big meal out. We won't be able to afford that now.

Such a shame, particularly with the CoL and all.

Oh gosh @Stillcountingbeans that was so easy! I've just converted 38,000 Avios into nectar.

Thank you so much.

thelengthspeoplegoto · 17/03/2023 23:10

That's so annoying. We've used vouchers many times for hotels. Definitely not as worthwhile now.

anerki101 · 17/03/2023 23:11

Have always been a random shopper, bits at tesco, lidl, aldi, asda, etc. But decided a few months ago to stick entirely with tesco for the x3 rewards . Even though tesco was more expensive it seemed worth it to get the rewards and use it to take dc somewhere nice for the day in summer. I'll convert the vouchers now and then ditch tesco if they're going to x2. Such a shame.

ILikePizzas · 17/03/2023 23:32

When I pass, I'll have an extra reason to (ab)use their toilets. Sweet sweet karma

AngeloMysterioso · 17/03/2023 23:49

I cut ties with them when they affiliated themselves with Mermaids, I’ve barely spend a penny in their shops since unless there’s been no alternative. There are lots of other loyalty schemes that are far better value IMO

Runnerduck34 · 17/03/2023 23:51

Such a shame they are downgrading them. Tesco clubcard used to be the best loyalty scheme by miles.
I remember when it was 4x the value and was excellent for days out and restaurants. I was annoyed when they changed it to 3x and got an email today to say it will now be 2x ,so they've halved value in the past few years.

The in store offers were only reason
i went in there. Can anyone confirm they are stopping those too?

The clubcard prices aren't stopping the 18th April deadline is for the changeover from clubcard app to groceries app and the rewards decreasing isn't till June. I work at Tesco btw

Gingerkittykat · 18/03/2023 01:01

I saved my points up and got a big chunk of money towards a new phone but now they are no longer doubling them I will be looking elsewhere when my contract is up for renewal in September.

I'm actually finding I'm getting more points with Asda rewards than Tesco. I've no idea how I am earning the points most of the time but got £2 on my £60 shop last week.

I've just read the email too, it is a real shame. I use mine to pay for Disney+. I don't use Tesco that much, and if anything it will reduce significantly as the local Tesco Express that we used regularly has changed over to a One Stop.

I really need to spend my Nectar points though, I'll be gutted if they lose value.

As Tesco own One Stop, I regularly find a lot of Tesco deals are in there as well.

IsGoodIsDon · 18/03/2023 09:00

I think Asda rewards are quite good. I prefer to have money over points etc and other rewards are too much hassle for me I never end up redeeming them. At least at Asda I present the app at the till and last time I got £10 off my shop and I don’t even shop there all the time.

2022again · 18/03/2023 09:59

Oh noooo!!! We pay for so much with our points,it pays for our yearly eurotunnel crossing and hotel stays. I’ve always loved tescos but have had 2 bad shopping experiences recently as they seem to want everyone to do self service and aren’t staffing their tills at certain times…..if the customer service continues to get poorer on top of the rewards scheme being downgraded then they will definitely lose their attraction to people like me who’ve shopped there for many years.

RaquelCC · 18/03/2023 10:12

I've been a points junkie ever since the scheme started and save my vouchers for two years and then have had holidays or jewellery. This is a game changer for me and will start using other supermarkets instead. Simples!!

Mindymomo · 18/03/2023 10:22

No longer able to get 3 times on delivery saver, just face value. I am going to get some Zizzi vouchers before June to use as and when as they will be valid for 6 months after. I still get most of my shopping at Tesco, so the coupons are quite good, also have a tesco credit card where I get a few more points.

Itdjgsurchg · 18/03/2023 11:01

I am so disappointed. I always save my points and use them for a day out in the summer. Doesn’t seem worth it now. This and the fact that my delivery service has really gone down hill the last few weeks will make me go to Aldi.

Emotionalstorm · 18/03/2023 11:29

Their fruit and vegetables are tasteless anyway.

BramleyAppleHotCrossBun · 18/03/2023 11:33

I literally signed up for Tesco delivery saver this week to take advantage of the 3x Clubcard points. We've been loyal to Sainbury's for years because it's nicer and better value but COL and all that: we were trying to economise and save up to use vouchers for birthday meals etc.

Think I'll just go back to Sainsbury's after June tbh.

Number1number2 · 18/03/2023 11:36

It's annoying but the way things are going.

If I understood the email correctly it's changing in June, and vouchers bought until then will be valid for 12 months Instead of the usual 6. So just before the date in June I'm going to convert my points to Legoland and pizza express and just save them and use them within the year.

Yes my railcard runs out in October so I'll convert the points for that in June and then convert the rest into Pizza express vouchers.

Okunevo · 02/04/2023 16:36

Just read that we will be getting fewer clubcard points for petrol too from June. It was a point per £2, changing to a point per 2 litres of petrol (about £3), so only 2/3 of the value. Barely worth scanning for 15 points (worth 15p in store, 30p on vouchers).
