Does anyone else get to the weekend and just feel tired?! (Early 40s!) Feel like I want to make most of the weekend but also want to be lazy!

Whats everyone up to this weekend?

I'm on holiday yay. Going to meet a friend for dinner shortly, then sleep so we'll without the noise of the helicopters that fly over where I live.
Tomorrow.....a museum or 2 maybe or shopping....

Chickenly · 17/03/2023 16:53

I’m 28 and I feel fucking exhausted every Friday and then I get to Monday and think “fuck me, that was exhausting, I need a weekend”.

This weekend, I’m going to take DS to rugby then it’s DN’s birthday party and then swimming with DD and DS. On Sunday, it’s Mother’s Day so we’re going to a farm. And I’m sure there’s something I’m missing too.

I can’t even remember what plans are for this evening.

Notmyyearthisyear · 17/03/2023 16:56

tonight, gym and telly. Will try to stay away from scrolling mindlessly on the phone. Tomorrow, cleaning and catching up with some work. How exciting 😳

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 17/03/2023 17:23

Yup.

DH asked me 'what are we doing this weekend?' earlier today and I just looked at him and thought sweet FA if it's my decision.

I have a 'Big' job, it's hard and tiring and I have to make lots of decisions and pick up emails all evening or do work late into the night.

I want to sit on the sofa with my music playing and read a book while drinking a latte with a huge slab of gooey chocolate cake. That's it.

GardeningQuestionTime · 17/03/2023 17:33

I was reading something the other day that said the we don't switch off enough. Most people need to have a bit of time doing not a lot so your brain can get itself back in order.

AlwaysWorriedAboutEverything · 17/03/2023 17:40

I'm knackered even though I'm not even working at the mo. We are renovating a house though and it's hard work. I look forward to not doing the school run for two days so I can lounge around in my dressing gown in the morning. 😁 It's a Pokémon Go Community Day tomorrow so I'm sure DC and I are out catching Pokémon so at least we're getting fresh air!

C1239 · 17/03/2023 17:43

@AlwaysWorriedAboutEverything what is catching pokemon?! Feel I really should know this!

Tonight I'm making samosas. I've made the fillings and the dough so will rope dh in tonight to help me. I normally work a Saturday but am off so will be heading to a shopping centre after lunch. I'll take the kids to the local park in the morning whilst dh does the food shop. I think we are then heading to see his mum ahead of mother's day. On Sunday I'm having afternoon tea at home, heading to softplay and then out to dinner. Plans to see mil might change to Sunday depending on how things go on Saturday.

grayhairdontcare · 17/03/2023 19:06

I don't ever make plans for a Friday.
I'm too exhausted of the working week.
I come in and tidy and have a long soak and then watch crap tv.
Weekend starts Saturday morning 😃

Mangogogogo · 17/03/2023 19:12

To me, making the most of the weekend IS being lazy

Ramadan prep? 🤩

I also have a demanding non-9 to 5 job, and a demanding 10 year old, and a permanent-travelling DH, but I make a point of getting away at weekends as often as things allow, otherwise I’d burn out. Last weekend I went away with a friend to walk part of a long-distance path, this weekend, I’ve gone to a work-related weekend thing with DH, while DS has a sleepover at a friend’s. Last month, I went to a remote retreat centre for three days. In April DH is away for the whole month, so I’m stockpiling anything that restores me.

wineandsunshine · 17/03/2023 20:47

I'm SO tired - honestly starting to think something is wrong with me!

I kept yawning all day at work today and that's after two days striking 🤣🤣🤣

ArrrMeHearties · 17/03/2023 20:52

At 30wks pregnant and an ill not long out of hospital dh our plans are pretty much non existent. Ds wants to make cakes with me for mothers day which will be fun he's looking forward to being a top cake chef

Whatifthegrassisblue · 17/03/2023 21:14

Me. Chores as usual. It's getting ti the point I don't even look forward to the weekend now 😑

vagueandconfused · 17/03/2023 21:21

Yes me, bloody exhausted every weekend.

I am leaving my shittest of shitty jobs shortly and have nothing lined up. I can't fecking wait!

Haha, it's the Pokémon Go mobile game. It's old news now but I still play and have got my little one into it too, so we spend our days wandering around catching fictional creatures. 😂 It gets us out of the house and walking and it's great fun!

Itsmyturnnow1 · 17/03/2023 21:26

DH on a boys weekend and back Monday.
DS4 is in bed, I’ve had a kebab, 2 glasses of Prosecco, a wispa and watching sex and the city.. HEAVEN to me! Tomorrow collecting the food shop, taking DS to Taekwondo then a kids birthday party.. then Sunday parents over and I’m making lunch. That’s it really…
I hate not having plans at the weekend as I always want something to look forward to!

JL642 · 17/03/2023 21:32

Yes and I’m on mat leave!! Having a lazy weekend. Hubby will take baby out for a walk to give me an hour or two to myself. He’s cooking Sunday for MD.

blackpearwhitelilies · 17/03/2023 21:36

God yes. Already dreading Monday. Just so tired.
long bath tonight. Maybe a film. I am NOT getting up tomorrow before midday. Coffee and toast in bed. Potter about town. Might do some baking. Need to do some light work reading.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 18/03/2023 11:48

Well I did go out briefly this morning but only to stick up on coffee and hit up The Cake Shop. I am now in possession of an absolutely massive slice of spiced apple cake with cheesecake filling.

Picked up McD on the way home so DD is happy in front of a film with a happy meal and I'm getting back into my PJs so I can spend the rest of the day slobbing out.

MuggleMe · 18/03/2023 19:58

I work PT and have Fridays off with kids at school. I do chores, see friends, go for walks and nap. With the kids it's harder as DD1 has ASD so often wants to stay home but ends up arguing with her sister. DH is exhausted so I tend to mind them and take DD2 out.

BluebellBlueballs · 18/03/2023 20:03

Me

All I've done today is gone to the hairdressers and laid in bed reading or sleeping

I'm still recovering from a horrible covid so I'm hoping that it's temporary and not a permanent thing. Or that it's not long covid.

Still have muscle aches which was my main symptom so slightly worried.

WhoWants2Know · 18/03/2023 20:39

I spent the majority of today lying down. I'd rather have been more active but I'm knackered and in pain and have been averaging 4 hours sleep a night this week.

I'm low in vitamin d, though and just started a loading dose that will hopefully make things better over the next several weeks.

TomatoSandwiches · 18/03/2023 20:42

I made soup.... wild right 😎
