To ask people to READ THE FULL THREAD!!

It’s driving me bonkers today how many people are posting without actually having read the opening post and then subsequent follow up posts before they then post something which is either clearly in the opening post or has been dealt with by the original poster later.

If everyone read the ironing posts and follow ups BEFORE posting it would save so much time and some posters would feel less attacked when they’re asking for help!

Apologies but it’s driving me barmy!

OP posts:

Who has time to read the whole thread?

This. I don't understand why someone would want me to read through hundreds of posts, just because I might miss a minor fact. I read the OP's, but I'm not going to read hundreds of responses. Who has time for that?

Well in that case don't dive into a thread about 300 posts in, at least without reading the OP's post. That's just basic manners.

It is useful but as I said a few posts above it isn't enabled on the app. Not on my Androis phone, anyway.

It is enabled on the app on my android phone. Strange.
I never realised some people didn't have that function available...the number of people missing the OP's updates makes much more sense now!

BluebellBlueballs · 15/03/2023 21:50

Yabu and I haven't rtft out of protest

I have ADHD so tl:dr is my thing

Ah, sorry! Just realised I'm accessing MN through the browser on my android phone. I'm not actually using an app. Technology is not my strong point as you can see🙄

But then the op, should put all the relevant details in the op to begin with

Lizardonachair · 15/03/2023 22:04

I haven't read the whole thread but I haven't seen any ironing posts lately. No idea what you are talking about.

Just cancel the cheque.

and the ironing.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 15/03/2023 22:19

Haha!

Theres a fairly casual thread about cereal at the moment where the OP is asking people to help her remember a cereal that’s squares and honest flavoured. She says clearly in the OP “Not golden grahams!”

Half the answers - “Golden Grahams” 🙄😂

Viviennemary · 15/03/2023 22:20

Threads can be 40 pages long. Yabu. And I dont like posters telling what to do either.

Devoutspoken · 15/03/2023 22:22

Who made you the thread police op? Why the need to tell others off? I couldn't give a monkeys if people post irrelevant things. Scroll on.

5foot5 · 15/03/2023 22:25

I agree but if the thread is very long I might only read the posts from the OP. I will always do at least that.

Which leads to another complaint. People who start a thread in one user name and then start posting to it in another name. I don't mean like a sock puppet, but more like they have logged in on another device where they use a different log in. It is very confusing and prevents people from just picking out their posts.

MajorCarolDanvers · 15/03/2023 22:25

If you are going to post about ironing your knickers then I can't be arsed reading the whole thread.

No matter what your instructions are.
