It’s driving me bonkers today how many people are posting without actually having read the opening post and then subsequent follow up posts before they then post something which is either clearly in the opening post or has been dealt with by the original poster later.

If everyone read the ironing posts and follow ups BEFORE posting it would save so much time and some posters would feel less attacked when they’re asking for help!

Apologies but it’s driving me barmy!

The thread police are out😂

Lol. Imagine getting stressed over threads on an Internet chat forum 😂what a way to go through life.

It's especially annoying when there's a poll on it as it's then a useless poll

To be fair, I don't think the polls actually have any real-world significance. But someone will probably tell us the polls are carefully analysed by Policy HQ at Downing Street.

Butchyrestingface · 15/03/2023 16:11

🙄 This is a TAAT and I knew which thread the OP here was posting about before even going back to check.

The issue with THAT thread is that the OP keeps posting threads which contain a description of what sounds like a one-off incident and then drip feeds a catalogue of abuse. She has herself admitted on a previous thread that this kind of drip-feeding is not helpful and yet here she is again today, doing the very same thing.

You wouldn't get helpful, empathetic responses from people if you mislead them or omit crucial details and she knows this from the way her previous thread went 3 weeks ago.

Mentalpiece · 15/03/2023 16:24

Ironing posts? What settings do I need it on? Do I use steam or not? I don't want to ruin my phone!
On a more serious note though op, I get what you're saying.
It makes me go tsk, when someone asks a question and the information is there in the op.
Such as.....my two year old hates carrots, and someone asks, how old is your child?.
Several posts of the same advice and then some bright spark posts....the same advice!

Florissant · 15/03/2023 16:31

I'm ironing bored.

outwiththeoldinwiththenewish · 15/03/2023 17:02

I'm guilty of this, but think there's also a case for anticipating the questions you'll be asked when starting a thread, not leaving out crucial details or drop feeding. Read one the other day which couldn't be answered without knowing the child's age and OP only replied after about 25 posts asking! I don't want to read all that and I can't seem to see just ops posts on the app. I think that's a desktop function only... could be wrong.

PegSliderskew · 15/03/2023 17:24

I've noticed recently some posters seem to only read the opening line!

OP- 'I've been really tired recently. My husband has had to go on some training courses 200 miles away/ left the family home/ is a bed bound 90 year old...'

1st Poster- 'Why isn't your husband doing more to help around the house so you can rest???'

AncientQuercus · 15/03/2023 17:28

You do know that the F in RTFT doesn't stand for Full?

vodkaredbullgirl · 15/03/2023 18:23

It's. Read The Fucking Thread 😀

YABU - on this forum you post your thing asking whether you're being unreasonable, and then we tell you what we think. I often don't bother reading what other people think because that's not good point. And if you didn't put everything relevant in your initial post, don't blame me!

ElonsMusky · 15/03/2023 18:43

Pretty common for people to reply to the OP's OP. No one reads 40 pages of forum noise.

GooseberryCinnamonYogurt · 15/03/2023 18:44

@slashlover

GooseberryCinnamonYogurt
Not everyone has the time to read very long OP's and subsequent comments.

But they have time to then comment something which might be completely useless/out of date/which as been said a million times already?

Yeah that sums it up and it's what keeps MN going.

Not everyone has the time or inclination to read the whole thread. Some are quite lengthy.

discobrain · 15/03/2023 18:48

Nope.

I'll read the OPs entries, but that's it. ADHD makes it hard to keep up with things at the best of times.

red78hot · 15/03/2023 18:51

If there's 20 pages I'm not going to read them all.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/03/2023 18:58

Don't know why but the option to see all posts from OP isn't enabled on the app. It should be.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/03/2023 19:02

red78hot · 15/03/2023 18:51

Neither will most people, but why comment in that case?

OP: AIBU to think my DS is small for his age?
1st reply: Need more info, how old is he, how tall is he?
OP: sorry, got distracted. He's 14 and 5'1".
300 more replies, including post #1000: Need more info, how old is he, how tall is he?

What's the point?

StopStartStop · 15/03/2023 19:09

OP, get over it. This isn't school and you aren't the prefect.

DojaPhat · 15/03/2023 19:18

There are levels to it. I'm not reading a 14-page thread before I comment!

Snugglemonkey · 15/03/2023 19:23

Topseyt123 · 15/03/2023 13:34

That is why you can select to view just the OP's posts. Why not do that? It gives you a very good idea what has actually been said and where the thread is going. Then you are less likely to make yourself look like a twonk.

I can't. I have looked everywhere but cannot find it. I saw it on my laptop, but I use an app on my phone now and don't have that option.

Bettyboop3 · 15/03/2023 19:29

I totally agree with you, a lot of people don't read the most basic information in the OP and it really annoys me too. Don't comment if you're either too lazy or too stupid!!!

Corgiorsheepdog · 15/03/2023 20:27

Snugglemonkey · 15/03/2023 19:23

I can't. I have looked everywhere but cannot find it. I saw it on my laptop, but I use an app on my phone now and don't have that option.

It's usually up with the title, there's a bit that says 'OP's posts: See all'.
I'm on the app on my phone too (android), but it might be different on other phone types of course.
It's a really useful function if you can access it.

I definitely do not have that on my app, just watch or hide. It is useful, but I am rarely on my laptop, so it is not an option for me. It is why I do not read or comment on v long threads.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/03/2023 20:43

It is useful but as I said a few posts above it isn't enabled on the app. Not on my Androis phone, anyway.

SophiaSW1 · 15/03/2023 20:56

You're taking it all way too much to heart. It's just an Internet forum...
