Smear test result 8 week wait

AIBU to think it’s not ok that after 2-3 weeks waiting for the results the lab had emailed the surgery to say there was a 6-8 week delay and with today being 8 weeks I still haven’t had my results?

I’m exactly the same. They said 4 weeks and, after 4 weeks I called my GP surgery who said they didn’t have them on their system either and recommended I call the hospital. I called the hospital and they said they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about and that I had to contact my GP surgery. I phoned my GP surgery again and they phoned the hospital for me. The GP receptionist phoned me back five minutes later to say the lab has a backlog and I’ll have them about 10 weeks.

I understand it’s frustrating but, for a routine screening, it’s not a particularly big deal. I can understand why routine smear tests are bottom of the pile compared to other tests being conducted.
