To be totally freaking out about carpet beetles

Has anyone had these? Honestly I’m going to have a nervous breakdown.

I saw an adult yesterday that’s all for now as I’m frantically searching for where the nest of larvae are.

pest control places I called yesterday said if I’ve seen an adult I have a house infestation and need harsh chemical sprays.

does anyone have experience with these? Please help I’ve not slept all night

I've been seeing a few every so often for the last twenty years. The problem has never got worse and I've not seen much in the way of holes in fabrics. It doesn't take much housekeeping to keep them under control. Just vacuum once a week, up to the skirting boards. Wash your curtains (I only do mine once a year). Never put unwashed clothes back in the wardrobe. Keeps drawers and cupboard doors closed. And squish the beetles and the woolly bears when you see them.

I have them in the loft room, and I will be replacing the carpet with hard floor, but I haven't seen any specific damage, never seen more than the odd one here and there, and they don't appear to have migrated elsewhere in the house. I freaked out initially and read lots of scare stories of the damage they would inevitably do - but they haven't and I've come to the conclusion that the scare stories are the work of the pest control industry.
Ditto silverfish.

Sorry - meant to say I've been seeing them for years. Apparently the fly inside through the window. During summer time. The adults do properly live inside I don't think, only the larvae do.

Thankyou to both of you that’s helped me, it’s so hard not to go down the internet rabbit hole and I have PROPERLY sent myself under thinking everything I hold is gonna be covered in those worms.
