Lowest paid doing same job - WWYD

I'm the lowest paid in a group of 6 all doing the same job.

Some been here longer and some not been here as long.

Some more experienced and not as much experience.

WWYD?

Not sure whether to speak with manager but I don't think they will increase my pay.

Do I then look elsewhere as feel de valued and de motivated knowing I put in more effort to the job for the least financial reward.

You can speak to them and ask.

In my job you go up a point on your pay scale each year you’ve been there so I’m at the top of my scale and paid higher than the person who’s only been on our team 4 months, that’s how a lot of jobs work I think, however if you don’t have set scales etc and there’s no rhyme or reason for the difference in wages then all you can do is ask.

How do you know what everybody else is paid? If you are sure, then yes I think you should bring it up but I would stay away from making comments about you putting more effort in than your colleagues, you could derail the conversation with a debate over that.

If you don't ask you don't get. They are a business at the end of the day. If they value you they will increase your salary, if they don't then time to look elsewhere.

I don't have a payscale and the best way to increase salary is to move fairly every couple of years.

and a gree with the pp, whatever you do, don’t say this sort of nonsense, effort is not the whole story and is subjective. You don’t need to put others down to justify your position
