Airdropped a pizza - what does this mean?

I’m in a cafe in London. Someone just airdropped me a picture of a pizza. Is this a code? A mistake? What does this mean?

I have no idea but you are probably lucky it was a pizza. Why on earth did you accept a random airdrop in public? Change your settings so you can receive from contacts only.

I have never heard of Airdropping before. I have just googled and looked at my phone and I have it set up to receive from contacts only. I am not sure I understand the point versus other forms of messaging.

I didn’t even know you could do it to randoms.

It was probably a mistake. I used to hate it when my neighbour’s iPhone popped up on AirDrop as I always worried I might click the wrong one by mistake.

It's probably just someone thinking they are funny. I would ignore it.

Oh, I thought it might be poncy Yoof Speak for having an actual pizza delivered.

Because getting Deliveroo to bring it is the sort of passe method that's only used by one's parents and 'young people' have moved on to somehting else now.

Back in the early days of Bluetooth (2005 or so) a techy friend would Bluetooth images that said "You've won a free beer! Go to the bar to claim" to all the random people in the pub that had lax security on their phone and then sit back to watch the chaos.
