Term time job mon to Friday PLUS 22 days annual leave.
Working hours Mon - Thurs 9-4, salary take home salary not too brilliant at £1470 though which is putting me off! Friends say this is the holy grail of working hours with 2 primary aged kids, I'm on the fence 😬

Sounds heavenly

Theelephantinthecastle · 13/03/2023 16:27

I would find those hours a bit frustrating - would need to pay for wraparound but only just. Would rather do 9:30-4:30 so that we could skip breakfast club or compressed hours so that we could skip an after school club day.

And the pay would be too low for me though obviously subjective and depends on your other options

Lovelyveg82 · 13/03/2023 16:29

I can better!

better paid, 9-4… 3 days a week, term time only plus holiday plus a shed load of benefits. Bliss

Lovelyveg82 · 13/03/2023 16:30

Oh and I LOVE my job

Lovelyveg82 · 13/03/2023 16:30

The hours work for me because my children at private school so longer hours but can’t see those hours being great at state school?

Dixiechickonhols · 13/03/2023 16:32

Only you know if it suits you. You’ll need aftercare on those hours possibly before care. Might work better to spread hours over 5 days and avoid that.
It’s lots of hols approx 17 weeks.

BigMandysBookClub · 13/03/2023 16:33

I don't think its that bad given it is term time only and for the hours you work. You will get a ton of MN types saying that's their wardrobe budget for the month though. 🙄

i would probably prefer to start and finish earlier to avoid either breakfast or after school club.

whattodo1975 · 13/03/2023 16:35

Working 9 - 4 are you still able to do the school run ?

Lovelyveg82 · 13/03/2023 16:35

What do you think about the job itself op?

mindutopia · 13/03/2023 16:36

It wouldn't be for me personally. I'd never work TTO because you don't have the same sort of flexibility in your working pattern as someone who can take off or work any day they want without considering terms. You would still need some sort of afterschool club (unless a partner who is home in the afternoon).

In contrast, I work 9-3 M-F year round, so dh and I don't need any breakfast/afterschool club as one of us is always around, plus about 6 weeks of paid leave. I do use some of that to cover the school holidays, but still have plenty left over for my own use. We have 1 in holiday club and the other is old enough to be home on her own (as one of us is always around - dh is self-employed).

Don't forget to mention the company car and F&M hamper at Christmas.....😂

I'm assuming your posts were meant to be jokes? I hope so....

NotAnotherBathBomb · 13/03/2023 16:36

Is that the actual take home or is the figure advertised pro rata? Because that seems a decent salary for 28 hours a week, at 39ish weeks a year.

That a woman can work part time for a good salary with benefits?

oh dear

ShandaLear · 13/03/2023 16:37

Do you get paid that salary during the school holidays? So you effectively get 10 months salary over 12 months for 30 hours a week? Sounds like a pretty sweet deal if it allows to you to not need childcare.

Lovelyveg82 · 13/03/2023 16:38

You think it just be a joke for a poster to say they work part time for a good salary and benefits.

How sad that your expectations are so very low

kegofcoffee · 13/03/2023 16:40

Sounds amazing.

For me the dream would be:

4 days a week
9am-4pm
6 weeks holiday
Christmas closure
Flexi-time

Only reason I don't say term time only, is because is end up doing all the holiday childcare, on top of all the drop offs and pick ups I already do. While my DH would take 2-3weeks of his holiday as his own during term time.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 13/03/2023 16:42

The 9am start would need breakfast club and the 4pm finish means you miss collection so also need some childcare there. My mum used to work similar hours and it was nice but we'd still go to our gran after school for a bit and that was relatively local commute.

NotAnotherBathBomb · 13/03/2023 16:47

It's a dream job for me too and I don't have children. Since leaving my TA post I've not adjusted to having so little time off a year (and I left 7 years ago 😆) but the TA salary is awful.

I also struggle working 10+ hours a day 😞

HecticHedgehog · 13/03/2023 17:02

£1470 annual wage for 16 hrs a week? Is that a typo?

HecticHedgehog · 13/03/2023 17:03

Oh, or is that the mthly take home pay?

I imagine it was the term time only plus lots of annual leave that made them think you were joking. That is very unusual?

Pastadanca · 13/03/2023 17:08

I don't see how 9 to 4 is the holy grail really, but sure term time is very useful (as long as they align with your children's term dates) and days outside of the holidays are good. Is the salary pro rata'd or will that be your take home?

I didn’t say “lots of annual leave”

I said “plus annual leave”

It is unusual
but doesn’t mean that it’s a “joke”

Albiboba · 13/03/2023 17:16

If the salary is putting you off then work full time?
It’s 4 days a week working 9-4 and term time only, with additional annual leave on top so the full time equivalent is hardly badly paid at all.
