Term time job mon to Friday PLUS 22 days annual leave.
Working hours Mon - Thurs 9-4, salary take home salary not too brilliant at £1470 though which is putting me off! Friends say this is the holy grail of working hours with 2 primary aged kids, I'm on the fence 😬

I didn’t say “lots of annual leave”

I said “plus annual leave”

No that’s true, apologies, I was getting you muddled with the OP who is getting a generous amount of annual leave in addition to only working term time.

I don’t know why you’ve put joke in quotation marks, or why you’re being so defensive. You’re in a very fortunate position, and it sounds like you do have a job that is almost too good to be true. I don’t think it’s that surprising that someone thought you were being silly 🤷🏻‍♀️

Nevermind31 · 13/03/2023 17:37

Will you be paid term time only? What are the hours of your kids’ school? Will you need wrap around care?

i would need afterschool care at £20 per child regardless of the fact that it is less than an hour…

Lovelyveg82 · 13/03/2023 16:37

That a woman can work part time for a good salary with benefits?

oh dear

Calm down. She probs thought you were joking because you wrote it in such a way that makes it read as OTT and gloating.

If you wanted to say actually you can get better, without people thinking your joking, then you should work on the tone of your post rather than jumping down the throat of someone who misread it 🫠🫠🫠

Lovelyveg82 · 13/03/2023 17:54

ok… I will go away Miss and “work on my tone” 😂

Because to think that a mumsnetter can’t have a part time term time job and be paid well is a joke…. Is something I disagree with hence using the PP’s terminology, and when doing so… I use quotation marks, which I’m guessing you would too when quoting a PP

theysaiditgetseasier · 13/03/2023 18:24

Commute is only 15 minutes plus there is parking, wrap around care only needed for one primary child as 2nd one is year 6 so walks to school & home themselves.

Wrap around care would work our £32 per week, I hate school drop off / pick up anyway so I see that as a win 🤣

theysaiditgetseasier · 13/03/2023 18:25

Oh and salary is paid all year round

OP posts:
theysaiditgetseasier · 13/03/2023 18:26

I made mistake it's Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday so 4 days a week, I was so excited by the offer that I didn't proof read my original post properly 🙄

OP posts:
PuddlesPityParty · 13/03/2023 18:27

It sounds like a good opportunity OP. I suppose only you can answer if it will work well for you and your family, though, which is the main thing 😊

theysaiditgetseasier · 13/03/2023 18:27

Lovelyveg82 · 13/03/2023 16:29

I can better!

better paid, 9-4… 3 days a week, term time only plus holiday plus a shed load of benefits. Bliss

I'm jealous! May I ask what you do? I've no formal qualifications in anything!

Mochinated · 13/03/2023 18:34

Equivalent salary FT is 21k?

Or did you post the take home after tax?

It sounds decent and better than earning 0?

doorwo · 13/03/2023 18:34

I teach 3 days a week and so obviously do not get annual leave on top of school holidays and I take home about £1680, so I'd say that job sounds completely amazing if you are doing 9-4 only x4 days a week, ie don't have to bring work home like a teacher does. Grab it with both hands!

Ripples2 · 13/03/2023 18:43

If you get a 1 hour break then you’re working 24 hours per week. Taking in to account the term time only working pattern (.75) that means you’re being paid for 18 hours per week. So roughly half of a full time year round equivalent. I don’t think it’s a bad salary! and yes I’d love those hours.

My working may well be wrong here 🤣

Chocadore · 13/03/2023 18:55

@BigMandysBookClub this made me laugh way too much. You've missed out "being able to fit work in around the nooks and crannies of being a busy working mum to two boys" 😂

Ah the that is good.

mine came after 5 years post grad studies!

financial services.

SynchOrSwim · 13/03/2023 18:57

So do you get £1470 per month after tax every month? I'm not sure what you meant.

Lovelyveg82 · 13/03/2023 18:58

Are you currently working? Does this represent a pay cut?

theysaiditgetseasier · 13/03/2023 19:36

It's take home pay after tax & NI I'm not taking lunch break just a 30 paid break so it's 28 hours. I figure I won't need wrap around in 3 years once you gets in year 6 but would still need TT as wouldn't want to leave kids under 14 home alone for more than a few hours.

Lovelyveg82 · 13/03/2023 18:58

No pay cut, it'll be around £100 a month more than what I currently earn. No work comes home either so once my days work is done it's done.

Why are you hesitating then?

it doesn’t sound like you’re on the fence at all. Sounds like you very much agree with your friends!

Albiboba · 13/03/2023 20:11

I don’t really understand the point of the post, it doesn’t sound like you are unsure at all?

What are the negatives over your current job?
So far we know it’s a 15 minute commute, requires minimal childcare, term time, and £100 a month more but presumably for less hours.
Do you actually have reservations? Why did you apply for the job if you were ‘on the fence’?

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 13/03/2023 20:13

£16 an hour isn’t a bad salary at all.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 13/03/2023 20:14

In fact I calculate that as closer to £18 an hour!

Comeonbarbiebrianharvey · 13/03/2023 20:20

What's the job then?
