Who's unreasonable - me or window cleaner?

My dog is petrified of the window cleaner.

The reason I started using my current window cleaner is because he always texts so I know in advance when he's coming.

On Friday evening, WC text to say he was coming on Saturday morning. But I was going to be out Saturday morning so I texted him back and said to leave it for this month because the dog would be home alone and wouldn't cope. I said I'd still be happy to pay but please don't clean the windows.

No reply.

I texted again first thing on Saturday morning. No reply.

I called him on Saturday morning. He didn't answer. I left a message. No reply.

I texted him again before we went out saying please don't clean my windows today.

I went out because I couldn't avoid it. I'd asked a couple of friends if they could sit with the dog but they couldn't, far too short notice. When I came back, the windows had been cleaned. The dog was in a right state and had pissed and shit all over the floor.

So I spent an hour or so calming the dog down. Then another couple of hours cleaning everything up. And the living room carpet will need a professional because the piddle has stained quite badly.

I texted the WC to tell him I wouldn't be paying because I'd specifically asked him not to clean the windows.
This time, he texted back. Quelle fucking surprise.

I'm holding firm and not paying. Needless to say I've told him to take me off his books for the future.

It's a weird situation because I was actually willing to pay him for NOT doing the work. But I'm not willing to pay for work that he's done that I specifically asked him not to do.

Am I being unreasonable here? I'm still so pissed off.

you knew he hadnt responded, yet you still let your dog home alone, you could have cancelled where you were going.

Of course, because the window cleaners plans and inability to check his phone like an adult is MUCH more important than anything she needed/wanted to do. How dare she interfere with something a man needed to do!

A man's interests ALWAYS come before a woman's...according to you, that is.

i agree op, the window cleaner trespassed.
you made it very clear you didn’t want his services. I can’t just go round cleaning people windows and then demanding payment ffs.
ignore people telling you it’s your fault you have a neurotic dog. That’s bullshit.

Correct. Taking the dog out of the equation, she cancelled and gave enough notice, since he only gave her 12 hours notice. The fact that he ignored that request shows what kind of person he truly is, under the veneer of politeness.

@adriftindenofvipers David Attenborough is not and never had been a dog behaviourist, go educate yourself!

I’m aware it’s a long standing agreement - but in this instance the op asked him not to attend and would pay him anyway.

Also it sounds like a behavioural issue if the dog is in that much distress not a training issue 🙃. And while I’m sure it would be lovely for the op to work on it and improve the dogs response, at this particular time the dog was not capable of coping so that’s a redundant jab on your part. Pretty fucking callous to call it a training issue if the dog is usually ok with being left. It’s not an unreasonable reaction on the dogs part of it doesn’t understand what’s happening?

Perhaps the dog "senses" something about the window cleaner no one else can feel. Dogs sometimes just "know".

Not the sharpest tool in the box, are we? Irony a foreign country?

was merely flagging you ridiculous ageism. You insulted a poster by saying that they couldn’t know what they were talking about because they were 70+. I brought up David Attenborough as a comparison to open your tiny mind. According to your statement, as he is well over 70, he couldn’t possibly know what he was talking about.

You were the numpty who referred to him as a dog behaviour expert.

Your solitary brain cell must be exhausted 😂

Listen luv, word of advice. It’s better to shut your mouth and be thought a fool than open it and remove all doubt.

That refers to you, just in case you don’t get it. I am not the one with comprehension issues, as well as being nasty and ageist. Are you 12?!

adriftindenofvipers · 23/03/2023 12:43

DizzyLizzyKizzy · 18/03/2023 23:39

So you're no longer a dog behaviourist........ because?

A recap…

DizzyLizzyKizzy · 19/03/2023 19:06

And I'll think you'll find your ideas at age 70'are massively outdated!

And again

adriftindenofvipers · 23/03/2023 12:45

DizzyLizzyKizzy · 20/03/2023 15:33

Didn't know he was a dog behaviourist?

And again.

Silly little girl.

DizzyLizzyKizzy · 23/03/2023 12:59

@adriftindenofvipers "silly little girl" are you being "youngest" and assuming my pronoun!

Tsk tsk!

The ironic thing about it is that my "I didn't know David Attenborough was a dog behaviourist" was actually being ironic

Because what's he got to do with this thread otherwise?

Funny!

No I won't sod off, don't think you've been appointed thread police?
