Why does it smell like roast potatoes?

I know everyone has their own smell and peoples houses have a smell - it’s not necessarily a bad smell but just that really.
However, my in laws house is nice and normal, but when I leave my clothes smell of roast potatoes.
It makes no difference whether potatoes have been cooked or not! Even my partner agrees. I now deliberately choose not to wear certain clothes because I don’t want to come back with a new top smelling of potatoes for instance.
Has anyone else had this (albeit, not a potato smell)

Yes me also, a house I go to I come away smelling of deep dried food and cigarettes, depends on each house I think.

How very strange! Does it make a difference where in the house you sit? I wonder if the smell is in the furniture?

I’d agree everyone’s house has a unique smell but I don’t smell it on myself after leaving, unless somebody smokes for example.
