Last year my boyfriend and I went on our first romantic child free holiday - it was absolutely lovely - long lie ins - room service etc - and the result is I'm now pregnant with our second child Blush. I lost some weight before our long weekend away so was a size 8 then - I've since developed a craving for ginger cake - grown a big belly, gone up a few bra sizes - and on our family day out last weekend asked my boyfriend to stop the car frequently- and kept explaining to our 5 year old 'mummy needs to wee' Grin
Our daughter's really excited about the baby and has even decided on her name if she's a girl Grin but the pregnancy's completely unplanned - I put my growing tummy down to lots of meals out before Christmas !

I wouldn't change it though for anything - it was me and my boyfriend's first child free time away together - but I sometimes feel if he'd have known that our romantic break would lead to me ditching my size 8 jeans for elasticated waists and a beach ball sized belly, complaining I need to wee all the time and burping/indigestion after eating, , he might not have been so keen on those long mornings liieing ins on holiday! Men seem not to be as bothered about contraception until they see the actual results! Grin

On the other hand though, I'd definitely recommend a child free holiday with your partner - felt we got to spend time together without all the usual distractions - it really was bliss !

Our family and friends are a bit surprised as they didn't think we were planning another baby and that's the thing - we weren't ! Blush it's been a bit awkward when they've mentioned their surprise but the truth is we just enjoyed a lot of uninterrupted time in bed and I'm now happily pregnant - if a little surprised 😊

An odd thread

Your boyfriend seems a bit…thick and you extrapolate from that… that “men” are.

maybe the men in your life!!

Lovelyveg82 · 10/03/2023 15:02

So you weren’t planning on another one

and yet you had unprotected sex multiple times on holiday?

IHaveaSetOfVeryParticularSkills · 10/03/2023 15:02

Well that just sounds like you both had willingly unprotected sex so... Yeah that's not "unplanned" pregnancy.

Are you just here to tell people you had a shag?🙈 Or.... Do you want people to tell their stories (hairy)

Bearonthestair · 10/03/2023 15:04

Christ, you read some shite on here. Sex = baby. Who knew.

Not actively planning another one - no

I think that's bot unfair to pick on just the boyfriend since this sound like the case of birds of the feather.....🙈

Not actively planning?!? You were actively having unprotected sex…doh

Then why have multiple unprotected sex

neither you nor your boyfriend seem… well, the sharpest tools in the box shall we say

whattodo1975 · 10/03/2023 15:11

So you had sex without any form of contraception, and it's your boyfriends fault you are now no longer a size 8 ? Sounds a bit odd.

Not sure how you can say "not actively planning" when you both knew no contraception was in use, i'd either call that planned or stupid.

You sound strangely smug OP.

CrystalCoco · 10/03/2023 15:15

I know you've written (lighthearted) but you (and partner) sound incredibly dense and just a bit blasé about bringing a new life into the world.

I'm presuming that you do understand what you've BOTH done here (given that you already have a DC)

Just a really odd, kinda boastful, but also 'whoopsie' aren't we silly, thread.

ShirleyPhallus · 10/03/2023 15:16

God mumsnet is so spiteful sometimes. It’s clear it’s a silly lighthearted thread about getting yourself back after pregnancy, feeling attractive and then that leading to another pregnancy where you feel all unattractive again.

if you don’t understand that then you should keep your pithy little comments to yourself

Hoppinggreen · 10/03/2023 15:17

Well I’m glad you are happy about it but maybe tighten up on the contraception in future OP

You clearly couldn’t even be arsed to read the OP! 😂

Greensleevevssnotnose · 10/03/2023 15:18

You know where babies come from right?

Justcallmebebes · 10/03/2023 15:18

Why all the hate? Congratulations OP Flowers

foulksmills · 10/03/2023 15:19

Don't forget to mention you're a size 8. It's very relevant. People need to know.

CollieFIower · 10/03/2023 15:22

It sounds like you also didn't think it would lead to this?

Or was it "unplanned" in the sense that he didn't plan it but you were quite happy to knowingly let it happen?

ShadowPuppets · 10/03/2023 15:45

Ha, I have some sympathy for OP. We had our first night away from DD the weekend after her first birthday. I was still tracking my cycles because it had taken me over a year to get pregnant with DD despite hitting ovulation day (which was almost always day 20 - day 23) with certainty.

We decided we didn't need to worry because I was only on cycle day 8 + 9 for that weekend away.

Guess who has exactly 21 months and one day between her two children?

They're 2.5 and 10 months now and the absolute lights of my life, and I always wanted a second baby and was worried about TTC issues again second time around, so I call it a blessing IMO. But have sometimes wondered in the last 10 months of no sleep whether both of us would have been quite so blase that weekend if we'd known what would happen...

ShadowPuppets · 10/03/2023 15:46

(FWIW I had a coil put in the very first day I could post second DC and won't be taking any chances again in future ;-) Although with two small children about the place, there's an argument that I mightn't have bothered..!)

WhiteFire · 10/03/2023 15:50

Congratulations OP, lovely news.

Suzi888 · 10/03/2023 15:51

Same thing happened to us after a holiday.

Congratulations OP 💐 make sure you use contraception going forward though!

OneFrenchEgg · 10/03/2023 15:59

Clearly just a cheery thread with some good news, congratulations and yes I'm sure a happy surprise (even if foreseeable) wasn't on his mind at the time.
Btw maybe rethink the naming thing, we considered it but luckily had a baby Theo not a baby Zeus.
