Always exhausted - what is wrong with me?

I’ve been to the doctor, my b12 and iron levels are a little in the low range but nothing significant.

Yet I’m falling asleep every single time I sit down. I cannot get into bed without falling asleep within one second and waking up with the lamp still on. I fell asleep in the car the other day when DP drove us somewhere for 10 minutes - this NEVER happens. I’m always exhausted and it’s starting to get me down and also affecting intimacy with DP.

What could this be? Bloods are clear, levels are clear and I’m only 26 :(

I'd go back to the doctor's for more investigation.

Have you had your thyroid checked?

Mitchumforthewin · 08/03/2023 13:44

do you have any other symptoms? My sister was like this and she had coeliac disease - her main symptoms were exhaustion and falling asleep all the time. Also her levels of b12 and folate were low. Have a Google - even if you don’t have any gut problems which is a big symptom of it it’s worth ruling out if you can find someone to test you (as I recall it’s a simple blood test but she needed to go private as the normal gp wouldn’t do it)
good luck with whatever it might be!

I am the same and it is frustrating! I sat down before and thought here we go I can feel myself wanting to fall asleep. I even sleep on my lunch break at work!

Did you have full iron studies though? Including ferritin? My iron levels were within normal range by my ferritin was low. After a few months of ferrous fumerate supplement I was fine. I remember the exhaustion like you describe. Dragging my feet up the path that to work every morning, falling asleep on the sofa at my parents house even though I was surrounded by a roomful of people. I couldn’t manage any exercises at the gym properly but just thought it was me being a wimp or that my working day had been extra stressful.
