Did I just hear Sunak promise to investigate inappropriate and unsafe sex education in school?

I don't really listen to priminister questions, but I was just channel hopping waiting for the kettle to boil

So IABU to dance a little dance?

YABU - no you misheard, he didn't say that/ he said it but it is meaningless

YANBU - yes you heard it, yes it means something, dance away

It's transphobic to want kids to be safe in school.

Of course it is.

Everything is transphobic.

If the Tories wanted children to be safe in schools then they would fund schools properly.

Bollocks, the Mid Staffordshire scandal was investigated by an independent inquiry headed by a QC.

And after it the government has done exactly nothing to ensure that safe staffing levels are in place across the NHS.

I guess Ofsted are warning about unsuitable RSE content with no evidence either. 🤔

Yes, I saw that article this morning. It's good OFSTED have been clear about both their concerns and the manner in which their hands are currently tied behind their back to monitor and flag the current risky practices around sex ed. provision.

Funding is irrelevant to this discussion. Surely it is just as cheap to deliver a sensible, safe, RSE lesson as it is to deliver an unsafe one?

It beggars belief how anyone can think asking a 12 year old how they feel about Anal sex is age appropriate. That trust saying they’ll amend the content if told to do so really shouldn’t be allowed near children, they are colluding in grooming their pupils. It’s sickening.

I really can’t wait for the law suits to start piling in - it might stop some of these enablers and help protect our children

I was just coming over to post that article.

Extracts -

Amanda Spielman, chief inspector of Ofsted, told this newspaper she has warned the Government that the current relationships and sex education (RSE) guidance places no limit on what can be taught.
She warned that Ofsted is currently powerless to sanction schools teaching inappropriate material.

The Government’s existing RSE guidance, drawn up in 2019 in consultation with the LGBT+ charity Stonewall, specified that “gender identity” should be taught in schools.
Ms Spielman said: “The way the Department for Education guidance is drafted sets clear minimum expectations but no maximum.”

Ms Spielman echoed concerns of Mrs Cates that some sex education materials “could fall foul” of schools’ legal duty to maintain political impartiality.

There is also a part about her saying that under the current guidance Ofsted cannot intervene when a primary school child is taught about masturbation in school.

Still doesn't happen, eh?

OMG12 · 10/03/2023 09:10

It would be interesting if trans ideology “teaching”/indoctrination was limited to oh very occasionally some individuals feel dissociated from their bodies and believe themselves to be the opposite sex sometimes even to the extent of taking drugs to alter their hormones and having surgery to make their generals look more like the opposite sex.

there could then follow a debate about what makes a man a man and a woman a woman (clearly stating these are the only two sexes) inc the dangers of stereotyping and what the position is regarding a minority that don’t adhere to the scientific viewpoint. I’d like to see discussions round why some people think that and want to push that agenda very much working in safeguarding issues

I feel that would keep my child safe

Agree.

The problem is that schools have been socially transitioning children.

I think, given all the advice about the dangers around the transitioning of children, esp excluding parents more and more schools are going to be dialling this back. I mean can you imagine in 10 years time some kid, who is now 11 and being socially transitioned in school which led them down the path of puberty blockers with lack of appropriate demographic testing , hormone therapy/sterilisation and potentially surgery with a 67% complication risk, suing the school for ignoring well documented risks and transitioning them into a cult against parental wishes. They’re going to be suing the ass of everyone they can, which I would suspect will inc individual teachers.

Im surprised unions aren't protecting their members and giving very clear guidance on this. At the very least teachers and schools should be silent on this, effectively they are giving unlicensed health and psychological advice (isn’t that what mermaids were originally investigated for before it exploded) If I was a teacher this is exactly what I would be expecting my union to do, factoring in the extremely high risk of future law suits.

Safe in schools ?
My kids (15 and 20) have been and are perfectly safe. Haven't been taught anything about anal sex or choking. I've asked them.
They are also aware of a tiny minority of the population being gender dysphoric but knowing hasn't influenced them into becoming like that. Also funny how some OPs are conflating extreme sex practices with gender ideology.
You should be more worried about the easy availability of extreme porn to young people. That's where they learn about anal sex and choking. Ask yourself what the government is doing about that ?

Yeah let's just ignore the fact that Ofsted think there is inappropriate unsafe material being taught in some schools because your kids are fine. 🙄

Well I’m glad your children have not been effected, but many more have. Do you not believe Ofsted? The BBC? My son has never seen a crocodile in the flesh but they exist and will kill you.

Actually it doesn’t take to much digging to find links between the gender ideologists, fetishes and extreme porn. The purposeful sexualisation/grooming of children has many faces.

Effiebreast · 10/03/2023 10:14

@Rainbowshit I do believe OFSTED and we'll see what they say.

You really need to start differentiating between the trans rights activists who are pushing this and 13 year old Jane who is now called James.

That is the level that passes for discussion on here.

I’d say it was far cheaper considering the amount of money schools are paying to the dodgy RSE providers - they all charge good money. Stonewall alone gets at least £100s of 000s from schools (£millions in total from all public sector contributions).

I wonder why that poster is not worried about that money which could be saved from the school budget.

Your 20 year old hardly has recent experience of the sex education syllabus - the guidelines were only from 2019, most of what we've been discussing relates to lower secondary.

I don't suppose that your 15 year old has experience of what's going on in every school in the country either. Their school may well have their heads screwed on, but clearly not all do.

Not all transpeople are invested in gender ideology. Some just want to quietly get on with their lives and hate what is being done in their name.
