To find Citalopram too sedating?!

Week four of 20mg citalopram. Whilst it’s helped my mood marginally (feeling more nonchalant tbh) I am exhausted! I already take a beta blocker for heart irregularities so that makes me tired but now I want to sleep all the time! I sleep well at night as in 930-6am. I take in the morning as when I took at night it made me wake (go figure?!)

Anyway I work full time and have a 5 year old and I can’t be sleeping all the time!

does this get better? Does anyone have experience of it? Is escitalopram better?

TIA!!

I found it made me sleepy aswell and I also take beta blockers (Bisoprolol), perhaps it's just a combination issue, I know certain SSRI medicines can't be taken with Beta blockers or should be used with caution although I can't remember which ones
I switched to Fluoxetine and haven't had any problems since

I found it took a couple of months to settle and I am absolutely fine after years on it. I wouldn't come off it now tbh. I hope you settle soon 💐

Sorry you are feeling so stressed.
Citalopram should help immensely.
My GP suggested I take it in the evening to help with the tiredness & this did work for me.
Hope you feel better soon.

I’m on 40mg of Citalapram and I need a nap in the middle of the day to cope, I’m not sure if it’s the Citalapram or the depression that makes me sleepy though? I take beta blockers for anxiety but can’t say that changes my sleeping habits.

I think I might change to the evening and see if the waking up at random times stops! It’s frustrating as I was fired before and this is awful! Thanks for the feedback!
