Any drs please? Super freaked out

ive had crazy crazy bloating and pain for months, maybe years. Bloating is so severe I gain 5/10 inches over my tummy, feels so heavy but not rock hard. Other symptoms too, mucus in stool, changing bowel habits, weight gain (not a lot 2kg but not able to shift).

managed to get through to my GP who did some bloods, fbc all clear great and a stool sample (no blood in stool or h pylori but elevated calprotectin- 350 to be precise) Receptionist called back, said indicative of ibd or cancer and to try and get a drs appointment for next steps… I’ve been calling and calling and showed up, both Monday and today, can’t get one, will obviously try again tomorrow but I’m starting to freak out. I’ve fallen into the google trap, and google told me that levels of 200-300 are more indicative of cancer than crazy high numbers

any medics here? I’m worried about bowel cancer, and ibd (but to a lesser extent) mums friend just died of bowel cancer because it was just dismissed for so long.

So I finally managed to get through to the drs surgery for a call back, the dr refused the call back because I don’t have a fit test. I’m so confused as he didn’t order the fit test in the first place.

Hey, not a medic, but this could be ulcerative colitis. I have that, and all my symptoms were indicative of cancer. I had a colonoscopy, and it was fine. Try not to worry. And don't Google. I did, and all it told me was the big C. But it wasn't that.

Not with my symptoms, I meant why a Dr who didn’t order a FIT test would reject a follow up app that was their instructions to have saying i need a fit test before

^ he’ll see me for an appointment to discuss the calprotectin. It doesn’t make any sense. He didn’t order the FIT originally and now won’t discuss my results with me because I don’t have a FIT test

How did you get on ?
I had a normal stool sample back in the summer but recently had another stool sample which showed my calprotectin was 270 but no blood in poo. My bloods were all normal including my iron. I did have mild iron anemia deficiency while pregnant at beginning of year.
I get some bloating but not celiac.
I must add that I traveled to Egypt 3 weeks ago and had a bad gut afterwards and so did my household so I kept thinking maybe that’s why!
all these things can be scary especially when people say that cancer is normally between 200-300 :/ that does not help my health anxiety one bit

@Jadejack try and not worry they don’t use calprotectin to test for cancer it’s more to test for IBD like chrons or colits I’ve been having these issues for 18 months now my first calprotectin was 170 and then 183 and then symptoms all disappeared and now they have came back had to do a repeat and they are now at 655!
still awaiting a colonoscopy to see what’s what I’m sure you’ll be fine I’m the same I always think the worst I do have IBD symptoms though lose bowels urgency stomach cramps mucus blood and more have you experienced anything like this ?? X

I have health anxiety so I always convince myself of the worst :/
to be honest it’s been hard to tell. I was on iron tablets that would make me constipated and that would lead to piles and small amounts of bleeding. If I eat spicy food I find myself rushing to the toilet with diarrhoea. I get the odd day where I don’t go and then I might go twice in one day.
i think a few months back I had some mucus.
id also get the odd cramps here and there.
I went away to Egypt 4 weeks ago and while there I had a sharp shooting pain right up my back passage which then went ended up across my abdomen. I thought maybe I’d eaten something or Egypt bug because it was so painful I could barely move. Ended up with diarrhoea next morning. My household have had bad stomachs since then so I kept wondering if it was to do with going abroad.
I don’t seem to get bleeding only if I get a pile so I have no clue!

this is abit more reassuring however im so confused about mine.
I had my son in may 2023 and while pregnant had mild anemia deficiency. Iv had 3 children in the last 5 years and after the last two suffered with piles ( not so much after my son was born, maybe once every few months) I found eating bread taking iron tablets would constipate me and if I ate spicy food I’d be rushing to the toilet the next morning. My bowels lately have been ok.
I went to see gastroenterologist and blood tests including iron was all fine, fit test found no blood , result was 4ug or something but I did have elevated calprotectin of 275.
i did recently travel to Egypt two weeks prior to doing these tests and when I came back from Egypt I had a couple of days where I had a bad gut as did the rest of my household.
I do not seem to have the typical symptoms of those on here who have IBD so I reall just don’t know what’s going on :(
Iv never had blood in stool unless I get a pile and normally it’s a few dots on the tissue of bright red blood.
many help would be great.
ps have got slight reflux and seem to have a little bit of heart burn after my son was born
