TA vs Teacher

I'm new (4 months in) she's been there years, the only one who is rude out of all of the staff, particularly to me but to everyone else low level.

She avoids eye contact huffs and puff when I walk past, and can be so hot and cold and passive aggressive (not to others).

I literally cannot be asked with this dragon of a woman, there are other new TA's but just my luck she seems to make a point of being rude to me.

I'm not even in her class, although unfortunately I will be. I feel like she's testing me or trying to push me out.

I didn't realise TA's don't get NI contributions, I can't get any more money as all other add ons are taken. I'm one 2 one and contract ends in 2 years unless they want to keep me on.

The other new Ta is leaving already, and the other one I'm sure will!

Not a good start or experience sadly and so wanted to make it work. Shall I do 6 months and then go to another school or pull the plug and look now?

What do you mean about NI contributions?

Are you enjoying the job other than one huffy puffy member of staff you don't actually work with atm?

Personally I'd ask her directly if you've done something to upset her.

You should get NI - unless your hours are so low you are below the threshold.

If you are 1-2-1 you will have max obe year with her. Can you manage that? Or do you want to look for another position? They are crying out for TAs round me, so if you are qualified I think you'd get snapped up.

If you are enjoying it then stay.if and when it posses a problem you speak to your line manager

So you are employed as a 1:1 for a child who will potentially be in her class next year? You feel that this teacher has taken against you for some reason and you are worried about being in her class next year. Is that all correct?

Right now, ignore her really. She isn’t the class teacher so don’t worry about her. As for next year, well she might not be teaching that year group.
