AIBU to be annoyed?

I know I’m being dramatic, but my favourite brand of lemonade which is produced locally has changed their recipe. They have taken the sugar out and replaced it with Stevia. To be healthier. It’s lemonade! Who is drinking it to be healthy?!
Does anyone else get annoyed at recipe changes?

I get why companies do this, especially with all the new rules around sugars etc but it annoys me too.
I got annoyed when they took the sugar out of calpol 🤣

Jigglypufff · 06/03/2023 18:18

Yeah, I get that. It has made it taste terrible, in my opinion.

Its just to avoid extra sugar tax. I agree it leaves things tasting like crap but if it helps even a bit, stunning. I work with children and more than half of them are overweight/obese and constantly drinking sugary drinks.

I am also in mourning for old calpol.

Stevia = yuk in my book

Jigglypufff · 06/03/2023 18:20

This brand is not marketed to children, but I take your point.

I was a two bottle a day Calpol girl, not anymore though.😁

BartsLongLostBro · 06/03/2023 18:21

Rubicon was also ruined with lower sugar.

Stevia = yuk.

Agree we need to lower sugar too though!

Strangely one has a black child on the front, the other a white child.

The one with the black child still has sugar and tastes the same to me as it did when I was a child!

dinmin · 06/03/2023 18:31

I can’t stand all the new versions of drinks with gross sweeteners in 😩

Currently very pissed off that Cauldron (vegetaruan brand) have RUINED their 'sausages'

I'm on a very limited diet for health reason and they were a staple.

they've changed them to vegan (no issue with that) & made them revolting!!

they were a decent textured sausage, but now they're like a pate texture piped into the tray. When cooked the texture is super dense, like cheap hot dogs and the 'skin' goes nasty and slimy.

They RUINED Ribena with their chemicals!

I'd rather pay more for the old, proper Ribena!!

waitrise have stopped doing their own brand Basil infused olive oil (whilst still doing others like chili/lemon/other weirdnesses. The one brand that does it now is horrible!

Taufun basil infused tofu used to be less than a pound & gradually increased to £3.50 but I stuck with it (cos of limited diet) but they've stopped doing that now too and I can only get it, on line, 'special cold delivery' from the Netherlands (or whatever) and of course you need to be home to get it in the fridge quickly!

& some other things... incredibly pissed off with food fuckery!!

Jigglypufff · 06/03/2023 18:50

I used to LOVE Ribena. I would also pay more to have the normal sugar version.

Ugh, it's the same with the Quorn slices, they've changed most of them to vegan and they taste like muck😭

Notimeforaname · 06/03/2023 19:40

Also what the fuck happened to chipsticks?? Bought a packet a couple months ago for nostalgia and they tasted like slightly salted cardboard.

saltrock123 · 06/03/2023 19:47

Chocolate most brands are yuck nowadays, bloody palm oil.
Twiglets, just what have they done ?
Cheddar cheese does not seem to melt like it used to. E.g cheese on toast it just sits there in a gooey mess no tasty brown bits.
And watery chicken with white stuff in it ?

We've had to resort to importing Orangina from France...
