so sunday lunchtime at the supermarket, i was with the kids in the car whilst dh gets some milk. a car parks next to us and a couple get out but had not kids or even car seats. i was so so when dh got back, i left a note 'where is your child?, dont you know how to read?'

that was bad of me was it?? what also inflamed was that 10 mins later, there was a porsche and another car also parked in the spaces. i saw all the people and none of them had kids.... WTF is wrong with people???

they took all the spaces, then as we're leaving, a woman comes along with NO children and parks where we left...

b***ds

Maybe you should take up position opposite the spaces, shouting at everyone that parks there who shouldn't...?

Who cares? These spaces are a convenience not a right, why does it matter to you who parks there?

CarGirl · 10/02/2008 21:30

why did you park in a parent & child space if you weren't intending on getting your children out of the car anyway?

good point cargirl!

nancy75 · 10/02/2008 21:35

YNBU this really makes my blood boil as well! Someone told me the reason people with posh cars park in the parent & child spaces is because the space is bigger there is less chance of hteir precios car being knocked when the driver parked next to them opens their door aaaarg! I can see that their paintwork is sooo much more important than my dd head being bumped as i try to get her out of a 3/4 closed car door! Rant over now thanks.

Bouncingturtle · 10/02/2008 21:35

YABU - you shouldn't have been in a P&C space if you had no intention of getting your kids out of the car. This is just as bad as taking up a space with no kids. The point of p&c spaces is to to allow room to get bulky car seats out and to maneouvre pushchairs along side.

lottiejenkins · 10/02/2008 21:35

I went shopping last Thursday, my ds is disabled and has a blue badge but he wasnt with me, however i did see a security van in the disabled space, then a security officer in the shop, after realising he was working there i got the assistant manager in his office and asked him to have a word.... how bad did i feel later when same security officer after moving his van helped me put my shopping in my mums car(parked on a slope) and took my trolley away!

wolveschick · 10/02/2008 21:36

YANBU. FYI every time this subject is brought up on MN it shows a real divide to those it really annoys and those who dont see the problem. I am in the former group and it does make me really cross and I profess to leaving a post it note on a young fit girls car (without any children) saying 'NO BABY, JUST LAZY'. It felt wonderful at the time but was then convinced she would come into the store and biff me one! You will prob see me on Dragons Den next year when I take the business world by storm with my post it note idea...

moljam · 10/02/2008 21:36

agree with CarGirl- very true!

hunkermunker · 10/02/2008 21:37

I think Dragons Den would point out that most people can write "No baby, just lazy" by themselves...

Bouncingturtle · 10/02/2008 21:39

Lottie - don't feel bad! P&C parking is a courtesy offered by supermarkets etc., but disabled parking is a legal requirement, think of this way, you help that security guard getting a fine

Bouncingturtle · 10/02/2008 21:40

AVOID getting a fine!! Must remember to preview..

CarGirl · 10/02/2008 21:40

I do agree that it is annoying although our local stores have created the problem by putting the parent & child parking directly outside the exit/entrance to the store - if they put them further away then they wouldn't be so abused in the first place!

lovecamping · 10/02/2008 21:40

dd1 was going to get out with dh whilst i stayed with the sleeping baby but she flew a real tantrum after we'd parked that it ended up her staying in the car.

i find it annoying because i dont park in a parent & child space when i go shopping without the kids. also i've been to so many supermarkets where all the spaces are taken up but people who dont have kids and i've had to park miles away with 3 kids.

its like people not offering to give up a seat for pregnant women... its just annoying...

HOWEVER i dont want this thread to get all righteous and i'm no saint so i'm signing off now.

Hopefully by this point, P&B spaces will be a thing of the past. Dragons Den too

Bouncingturtle · 10/02/2008 21:41

OK - to be honest, lovecamping, this debate has kind of been done to death!

wolveschick · 10/02/2008 21:42

The bloke who parked in the local supermarket baby on board space is probably still in counselling after he got into a row with my rather vocal baby group mate after she pointed out his lack of child on board his sports car. He was holding his own until coincidentally myself and my other baby group member came across this little scene and joined in..........bet he hasnt done it again! I always get really tempted to tap on the windscreen of people who have parked sans children and in a mock concerned way shout "I think you have left your child in the supermarket". But then my supermarket is in the middle of a very incenstuous housing estate and I'm a bit of a wuss really

LazyLinePainterJane · 10/02/2008 21:42

You don't want it to get all righteous? Maybe you should re-read your op......

wolveschick · 10/02/2008 21:44

hunkermunker......I was being tongue in cheek

2shoesdsis16today · 10/02/2008 21:49

so someone dits in their car with their kids taking up a p&t bay and then moans about someone else breaking the rules.
yeah right

hunkermunker · 10/02/2008 22:12

WC, I know

hunkermunker · 10/02/2008 22:13

Happy birthday to your DS, 2shoes!

TotalChaos · 10/02/2008 22:16

Happy birthday to 2shoesDS. just think a M & T parking thread to wind his mum up for a bday pressie

Lulumama · 10/02/2008 22:16

misdee · 10/02/2008 22:18
