I'm going away soon for 14 days. I've never been away for this length of time before. It's usually been between 2 and 10 days.

What's the longest time you have been on holiday for ?

3 weeks to America.

emmaw1405 · 05/03/2023 09:36

4 weeks in India, 3 weeks in Thailand and 3 weeks in America. These were all pre-children.

Shunkleisshiny · 05/03/2023 09:42

4 weeks doing an epic road trip in the Deep South, meeting up with friends and having a blast!

SiobhanSharpe · 05/03/2023 09:48

We normally go away from Christmas or just after, until early February, can't stand England in January. So around six weeks.

ShapeShifterSorter · 05/03/2023 09:49

One month

Several times

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 05/03/2023 09:50

About 4 1/2 months - I backpacked around the world

LillianGish · 05/03/2023 09:57

Three weeks in California and another three weeks in Thailand. To be honest, I think unless you are crossing time zones where you need a bit of time to adjust four or five days can feel just as beneficial as two or three weeks. We've done lots of short trips - city breaks and coastal/country boltholes and always say it feels like we've been away much longer - a change is as good as a rest and all that.

liveforsummer · 05/03/2023 09:59

I've done a month twice - once back to the Uk when I lived abroad and another time abroad when I lived in the Uk. Still felt like it had flown by at the end of it

liveforsummer · 05/03/2023 10:00

Anything over 3 months i'd not call a holiday (I used to go abroad for summer seasons, am not counting that)

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 05/03/2023 10:03

4.5 weeks to Australia and NZ.

Nosandwichfilling · 05/03/2023 10:03

Road trip in America for a month. I did spend a week with my brother taking DS with me at his house before DH joined me and off we set for three weeks It was impossible for him to get a month off, I was incredibly lucky that I managed to persuade my employer.

@Emptycrackedcup Working holiday, hell no. I worked crazy hours for twelve months previous to my trip to pay for it. My budget was 100 dollars a week, which in SE Asia (excluding Singapore) was a lot. This was thirty years ago, when internet cafés were a thing.

I did a 6 month one, that was expensive. 2 years would be amazing! Wow, I would just love that

hettiethehare · 05/03/2023 10:11

3 weeks in New Zealand. It was amazing and so nice to be away for so long.

zingally · 05/03/2023 10:23

17 days to Canada when I was about 14.

Pretty much since then it's been a week at a time.

Although in June we're off to Norway/Iceland for 2 weeks on a cruise. It'll be 15 days though, as travelling down to Southampton the day before.

Enthrallingstory · 05/03/2023 10:26

3 years, backpacking across all continents, saved up for it all before we went. Small stint of work en route to top up the coffers! Most amazing experience of my life

AgentJohnson · 05/03/2023 03:46

Backpacking for two years. Loved every second but it did impact my ability to enjoy shorter holidays for a long time because anything shorter than four weeks, just felt like a phaff. Going to Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore for three weeks this summer and I cannot wait.

Yes I agree! The lovely thing about literally having all the time in the world is that you can stay for weeks in a place you love or just move on from somewhere else you don't like. I found it really hard coming back and settling down again, still love travelling/holidays. Live for them, now we will go away for 3 weeks at a time.

whoruntheworldgirls · 05/03/2023 10:31

3.5 weeks to New Zealand, same for a US road trip

DuesToTheDirt · 05/03/2023 10:33

3 weeks, on two separate occasions.

I backpacked for 4 months in my 20s but wouldn't call that a holiday, as such, as I was between jobs, relocating, etc. So it seems different somehow.

Barnowl25 · 05/03/2023 10:38

14 weeks, bought a round the world ticket. Best thing I ever did.

ScrumpyTree · 05/03/2023 10:38

22 nights for a holiday.

Been travelling for longer but that didn't really feel much like a holiday. Different thing.

caringcarer · 05/03/2023 11:03

6 1/2 weeks, spent whole of summer holidays at our French house. DH came for 2 weeks then flew home to work, then came back for final week.

maddy68 · 05/03/2023 11:10

4 weeks

roarfeckingroarr · 05/03/2023 11:15

9 months in 2019. Went travelling on a one way ticket. Met DP. Now have a toddler and a newborn so nothing like it for some time.

Four years in the middle east.
To be fair, my husband was working whereas I was enjoying the holiday. 🏖️
