To think MN has changed this year?

Disclaimer: I know nobody is forcing me to be here.

It might just be my old lady moodiness but there seems to have been to me a shift in the tone here this year. Maybe I'm just focusing more on the negative posts because I've had a rough couple of months I don't know.

Then came the bunfight around the sex topic that seemed to be some weird experiment by MNHQ. It was the worst decision they've ever made in my opinion and totally destroyed my trust in "the spirit" of MN.

So, in summary: bah, humbug!

OP posts:

I was away for a while but have noticed that there seems to be a lot more spite and nit picking rather than the useful support and kindness of old. Maybe because life in general has got tougher with the spiralling costs etc people find this am easy place to come and bitch and vent on others?

quietnightmare · 05/03/2023 01:39

Blame the weather the bitchiness will likely lesson when the weather improves

It's not just this year, but coming on. But I see different things.

  1. Endless, endless, fucking endless threads that should be in Relationships but are posted on AIBU/Chat. Posting on Relationships would get a more measured response. And stop OPs' whining when they get what they asked for.
  2. Is it just me or is there a new, specific vagina/ vulva-related thread every week? Take yourself off to Health.
  3. Stuff that could be solved by Google.
  4. Blue line shit.
  5. "Don't judge me" threads on AIBU. FFS
  6. Use of "bitch/bitchy" by women to describe women. Unhelpful. There are other words.
  7. An influx of MRA men on threads. I would call them arseholes if it wasn't unfair to arseholes. I know MN is not exclusive, but they are the frozen limit.
  8. Anxiety as a blanket descriptor. The new black. Well, a bit old now. It was depressed/depression when I joined MN.
  9. How dare you post about money-saving/cost of living when you actually own your house you entitled cow? How tone deaf are you?
RotundBeagle · 05/03/2023 02:00

I think it probably just reflects the general unhappiness of the population following the cock pandemic and war/brexit/recession etc. There are loads of threads about the country 'going downhill'.

RotundBeagle · 05/03/2023 02:01

Fml, COVID pandemic!

EmmaEmerald · 05/03/2023 02:03

OMD Rotund I'm crying

cock pandemic sums it up really well! And it sums up what MN was like a week ago too! 😂😂😂😂😂

Best autocorrect ever Grin

RiverSkater · 05/03/2023 02:06

I'm sticking with Cock pandemic. I hope I dream about it tonight.

RotundBeagle · 05/03/2023 02:08

😂😂😂😂

I was thinking, at S level had to do an essay question "in the final analysis, all governments are oligarchic - discuss".

Maybe they could have "in the 21st century, politics is just a cock pandemic". But then there's not much of a debate there 😂😂😂

JamMakingWannaBe · 05/03/2023 03:17

In the cock pandemic, I only got a couple of little pricks.

Probs for the best seeing as one of the recognised symptoms is stiffness. 😂

RotundBeagle · 05/03/2023 03:30

Or 'swelling and stiffness' if I remember correctly.

This. I'm in the Southern Hemisphere and I notice everyone seems to get noticeably more irritable over the UK winter.

Hmm. Cannot abide the word bitch either. But then I also really dislike the word cow.

tobee · 05/03/2023 04:18

And that's just one thing I take issue with on the above quoted post

I wasn't using it. I was employing a voice, attitudes as well as language I don't use on MN. It's called a persona.

Hooklander · 05/03/2023 04:57

Definitely the influx of MRA type men and the bloody sex topic debacle has left a sour taste.
