To ask when you gave your kids caffeine and fizzy drinks? My 10 year old has the occasional fizzy orange or cup of tea, but has started begging for Coca Cola as a treat. AIBU to not allow this? & What age did your kids have caffeine and/ or fizzy drinks?

My DS is 6, he is allowed the very occasional glass/ cup of cola ( top tip, get the sugar and caffeine free one. 😁 mine has yet to notice as he's never had the original.

Thanks @Fixesplease that's a good idea actually. Take the caffeine and sugar out and they still feel like they are having a treat but without the hyperactivity or dental worries

You restrict they binge. And so on.adulthood already being f* by food morality, restrictions and good bad foods.

when I was a kid we had 'weekend food' including fizzy drinks and chocolate cereal, it worked well, we understood they weren't good for us so we couldn't have them all the time and on a daily basis, but they also weren't banned so we didn't become fixated on the forbidden fruit.

7 year old never she doesn't like it, 2 year old always pinching my tea and if she sees coca cola she makes a beeline for it!

We only ever had fizzy drinks at weekend.

DD11 had a cuppa in the morning. Fizzy drinks on special occasions. She isn't fussed by them.

I don't believe in the if you restrict they binge belief.

It’s a ‘special drink’ here and DSs may have a glass (sugar free) when DH and I have a glass of wine or a beer on a weekend evening or when we’re out for a meal. All things in moderation is my motto. My own dietary habits are far worse than those of my DC!
