To ask what to buy as a wedding present for a couple who have been together 15 years and have two kids?

Very settled, don't want for a great deal in material terms, own their home and loads of nice stuff in it so no obvious need for typical wedding presents and I don't think they would want that.

Want something which is significant for both of them and something which is appropriate for a wedding but they aren't making a fuss of the wedding; it's a small civil service. I don't think they'd like anything obviously commemorative or "weddingy" if that makes sense ie crockery or jewellery. They are big readers, outdoorsy. Neither particularly materialistic. Two kids approaching teen years.

Champagne?

LittleRedYarny · 03/03/2023 21:24

For friends in a similar situation to yours we got them Viator vouchers for their honeymoon so they could do a day trip

BritInAus · 03/03/2023 21:27

Cash in a card / voucher for nice garden centre if they're 'gardening outdoorsy' or similar / voucher for meal out. If you don't want to do cash / voucher, a good bottle of wine / champagne / gin / whatever they like.

We got married last year, in our 40s, tiny wedding. Best gifts were restaurant vouchers & a picnic set!

RandomMess · 03/03/2023 21:29

Something for their garden

WandaWonder · 03/03/2023 21:30

I feel I can never have too many towels, boring I know but I would probably get this

x2boys · 03/03/2023 21:31

Vouchers, money?something random like a sky diving experience?

jannier · 03/03/2023 21:32

Vouchers...spa days, meal, an interest.

This is very true or luxury bedding ,I would love that !

Findyourneutralspace · 03/03/2023 21:34

I think an experience. Depending on budget, a meal, or a spa day, or a hotel break, or as my friend did for us - you’re off to Paris…here’s some Euros for a coffee/beer.

PleaseJustText · 03/03/2023 21:35

Do they cook? If so, a date night subscription from The Spicery would be great.

wibblewobbleball · 03/03/2023 21:36

I think vouchers for luxury bedding is nice - new sheets for the marital bed Grin I also think these champagne tins make great gifts - personalised with "Mr & Mrs Surname". www.clos19.com/en-gb/veuve-clicquot-yellow-label-brut-personalised-city-arrow-1096866.html

We sound the same as this couple you've described and my sister in law got us a beautiful piece of ceramic artwork, actually of our hometown, from a local artist. Pride of place in our hallway now.

NoSuchThingAsMe · 03/03/2023 21:37

Nice wine glasses. You can never have too many as they get broken every so often. Or any other type of glass if they don't like wine.

maddy68 · 03/03/2023 21:40

Have you asked them ?

Thepeopleversuswork · 03/03/2023 21:41

Thanks all, some really good ideas. @Tantastic12 I love this idea. @x2boys I don't think they are sky-divers but an experience would be a good thought.

No but a mutual friend has and they waffled and said they didn't want anything.

Experience voucher? Warner bros studio or similar?

You absolutely can have too many towels. Ask my towel cupboard 🙃

Im in a similar situation and I would far prefer a restaurant voucher, a nice drink we can both enjoy, cash, or even a nice houseplant in a pot to match our decor.

Clevs · 03/03/2023 21:44

A voucher for a nice meal out? Like a posh tasting menu?

Lol.i.would take your towel cupboard over a restaurant voucher any day ,that's just me though 😂,but yes vouchers for something nice and different would be lovely I think .

Tinkeytonkoldfruit · 03/03/2023 21:52

Similar circumstances we bought a gift voucher for a lovely local boutique hotel for either overnight, dinner, spa etc.

LetThemEatTurnips · 03/03/2023 21:53

If they don't want anything, just respect that and get them a bottle of champagne.

Some one bought us a lovely rose bush, that was nice.

Leeds2 · 03/03/2023 22:02

If they have a garden, something like a bird table, bird bath or bird feeders.

Vouchers for a llama walk, either just the happy couple or for the children too, or zoo keeper for a day/personal animal encounter.

Vouchers for a walk over the London Eye, if London is easily accessible.

Picnic hamper.

Retro sweet hamper.

FelicityFlops · 03/03/2023 22:07

Unless you ask them what they would actually like, or they have a wedding list, Dartington Glass dimple glasses in various sizes.
