I had the exact same feeling as I watched the first episode of Brookside last night. 1982!!!! I was 8.

I was 18. Still love Dignity.

I've been watching it. Saw my 16 year old self on there. Jumping about to Elastica and swaying to The Cranberries. Suede were also on that night. We got autographs from those three bands and even Damon Albarn who was there as I think he was dating Justine from Elastica, who previously dated Brett from Suede. Awks!! 😅

Some of us got given free Suede tee shirts that night. I look a right knob, stood with my best mate and two other girls we didn't know wearing the same tee. 🙈

alright don’t then?

EscapeTheCastle · 03/03/2023 20:29

Omg. You were on totp! Tell us more!
Wish I had thought to have gone. Not sure what year would be my year though!
I always record these old tops to watch at my leisure.

@EscapeTheCastle assuming you're asking me? 😊

My family live in Borehamwood, which is where the studios are. My uncle's mate worked at the BBC and used to get us tickets often. Even though we were officially too young. I think you had to be 17. Saw some great 90s bands.

Studios were vast and freezing, they had some warm up guys playing music to get you dancing and literally warmed up!

I think there were 4 stages. My uncle's mate used to tell us in advance who was gonna be on that night, so we'd scope out which stages we wanted to get to the front for. Was a good laugh.

I have the opposite reaction, reminders of programmes like TOTP, The Bill, Byker Grove, etc make me depressed. Glad they’re gone.

1983 was a bleddy great year for music.

It must be so cool to see yourself back in the 90's. I often watch TOTP's and wonder if people spot themselves in the crowd.

They are such a feel good watch.
I love your story about getting tickets when you were a bit too young to go!
