anperson I work with it more works for the same company as I do but I have never met and has just joined my department said “foreigners have no place here…”. Now I’m from the Republic of Ireland and have worked in England for the last 10 years. I have a thick Irish accent and alright it’s only across the water this isn’t my home.

I challenged said person and asked if this was directed at me and they before defensive and stuttered to defend their actions. Im absolutely furious with this comment and believe it’s bang out of order.

M I’ve spoken with my husband and close work friends. I’ve challenged this and I’ve an email written in anger to escalate it tomorrow. AIBU??

It's technically xenophobia not racism but you won't get far on MN about it. Half the people I've met since I left Ireland don't even seem to know it's not part of the UK!

Of course- thats blatant in your face racism. You could easily call the cops on that person, no pity. They had no pity for you saying it in front of you, why should you have it about them.

It would be useful to know the rest of the sentence and what the context was.
