Dd, 5 in the summer speaks very well, has done since she was very young etc. The last few weeks, she’s started making words up and speaking sentences in these made up words, nearly all the time.
She’s had a heavy cough and cold for the past week and a half and fever some days, but speaks like this when she seems ok too the last couple of weeks.
Is this a normal thing children do for fun or should I be worried at all?

I remember doing this when I was a kid

GettingStuffed · 02/03/2023 18:30

My, just turned 6, grandson has started this. I remember creating a martian language when I was in infants school.

Youtubenonsenseaboutslime · 02/03/2023 19:41

So it’s normal, nothing to be worried about?

Is she literally doing it the whole time? Or only sometimes?

Youtubenonsenseaboutslime · 02/03/2023 19:54

@Coffeecoffeeinmytummy Not all the time, but she slips into it very frequently

My friends and I made up a secret language when we were young. I would often slip into it when I was not with my friends apparently.

Calvinlookingforhobbes · 02/03/2023 20:01

Is she consciously choosing to do this? Is she aware of it? If not I’d get her checked out.

Youtubenonsenseaboutslime · 02/03/2023 20:24

@Calvinlookingforhobbes I think so? She laughs after it and gets really silly

She's just being a kid, totally normal.

Youtubenonsenseaboutslime · 02/03/2023 20:44

@xprincessxjanetx Phew, thank you, it’s really annoying too 🙈

DD is 6 and does this all the time, and has done it for the last couple of years. She calls it "monster language" and it can get pretty complicated...
