I posted about the recent sudden increase in guncrime in my area and I mean on my doorstep.

2 shootings recently in areas i walk pas almost daily with my babies, one being directly next to a park.

So last night I was putting the kids to bed and I came downstairs, DH said that he had heard what he thought were 2 gunshots outside minutes before (on the avenue behind us) I told him he was being daft.

But about 3 minutes later there are police whizzing past, sirens and 2 police helicopters circling overhead with the light shining down over our row of houses.

I haven't heard anything yet but it seems he was right in thinking it was gunshots.

I never thought I would want to move, its never been this bad, always been an OK area but lately its just gone to pieces.

We are apparantly in the middle of a 'turf war' between two areas either side of us (which are both really bad areas) so i can believe thats true!

I just dont want to live here!

Im so sad though as we have done up our little council house, we have a big garden, i like our house but hate our area.

Why are these gun wielding shits destroying our lives and making me move from MY home???

Im so sad and angry

YANBU. I'd want to move too.
Is it possible?

Disenchanted · 10/02/2008 11:41

It is, but we are in a council house so would have to 'house exchange' and alot of areas on the exchange list are just as bad if not worse.

The area I want to move to (where my mum is moving and alot of family live) hasnt got any hopuses up for exchange at the moment.

And the chances of anyone wanting to move from there to here are slim

It's not fair and yanbu and you shouldn't have to move but I would be out of there asap if I were you. Life is too short, if there is anyway you can, move.

Yea we can, but most council houses are a dump when you move into them aren't they?

The only reason we had the money to do this one up is when we got this house we happened to get a cheque the same week from working tax credit as they owed us a fair bit of money.

That paid for carpets, paint, ect.

If we moved now we wouldn't have a spare penny to do anything.

Baically, or a gun and a shitip, lol.

Maybe we should try and save for a year or so first.

Hopefully the little bastards will kill each other soon enough and then you will have some peace.
