Instinct to sleep in the middle?

Wife2b · 28/02/2023 21:22

Settle an argument. Husband and I both have covid (him several days before me so we isolated from other another). I slept in the guest room which is a double bed, super king in the main room.

I don’t sleep as well in the guest room because instinctively I sleep in the middle and find the slight dip uncomfortable (not keen on the sides either).

I sleep like a log in our room which is so much more comfy and the mattress feels more supportive (though both mattresses are the same).

Husband thinks it’s weird that I sleep in the middle of the double bed whereas I think it’s instinctive if you have a double to yourself.

What do you think? 😛

I cling to the right hand side of the bed even when DH is away.

Jemimapinotduck · 28/02/2023 21:25

I automatically start on my side but would move over into the middle/other side whilst I'm asleep as I'm a fidgeter

MrsBunnyEars · 28/02/2023 21:26

DH tells me I always sleep in the middle, so carry on doing that.

Sockmonkeysloth · 28/02/2023 21:27

I have a king size bed and use pretty much every inch of it! It’s a good thing I’m single…

YukoandHiro · 28/02/2023 21:27

No I'm an edge sleeper. Love to hang over the edge, even if I've for a massive double to myself

3luckystars · 28/02/2023 21:29

I would never sleep in the middle. Never.
Ever.

piedbeauty · 28/02/2023 21:48

No! The middle means you're in between the pillows!

I stick to my usual side even if by myself.

Libre2 · 28/02/2023 21:51

No I definitely stay on “my” side even when Dh is not there - which is most of the time because he breathes and I can hear him and want to smother him. We have a spare room fortunately.

CoachBeard · 28/02/2023 21:57

I almost always sleep on ‘my’ side regardless but we recently got a sofa bed for when his snoring is keeping me awake and that is only properly comfortable if I’m right in the middle.

Talipesmum · 28/02/2023 22:09

I stay on my side. But sounds like your spare bed isn’t that comfy, if neither the dipping middle nor the sides are comfy?

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 28/02/2023 22:31

I sleep on the side, but I'm one of those weird ones who doesn't care which side. Don't get me wrong, we have 'our' sides in our bed, but elsewhere I don't care.

Stopsnowing · 28/02/2023 22:33

Long time singleton and for some reason always stay on the side. Partly to be near the bedside lamp.

Hesma · 28/02/2023 22:33

Just me in my double on the right hand side

Fairislefandango · 28/02/2023 22:36

I don't think there's anything imstinctive about it - it's a choice imo. And why would you sleep in the middle if it's uncomfortable?

Soapnotshowergel · 28/02/2023 22:38

No, I always sleep on my side of the bed.

MyLittlePonyWellies · 28/02/2023 22:39

Edge sleeper! Can't sleep in the middle

But, when I was still living with my parents and had a double to myself, I might have slept in the middle. I can't remember as it was ages ago.

SkankingWombat · 28/02/2023 22:44

On the very rare occasion I have the bed to myself, I tend to move around a lot to find the cool space. I do sleep in the middle sometimes, but am much more likely to be diagonal.

Wife2b · 28/02/2023 22:50

I stand corrected! 😂

Everyone says the room is well comfy, even my husband but it’s not my favourite.

No, I wouldn’t sleep in the middle. That’s just weird!

UsingChangeofName · 28/02/2023 22:56

Weird to sleep in the middle.
Apart from anything else, you'd be in the gap between the pillows, surely ?

Winemygoodenemy · 01/03/2023 00:34

I am also one of the weird people who can sleep on any side. But alone I star fish. In fact DP says if he gets up for the toilet I will be fast asleep but sense the space AB’s within seconds will be taking up the whole Bed

Idtotallybangdreamoftheendlessnotgonnalie · 01/03/2023 00:36

I sleep diagonally when I've got our king sized bed to myself.

Justdontbejudgy · 01/03/2023 00:40

Diagonally, middle, wherever. LOVE having that bed to myself!

DarkNecessities · 01/03/2023 00:40

I still sleep on my side when DH is away but my children who always have a double to themselves sleep in the middle.

I don’t get the pillow comment - just move them!

Allgreen · 01/03/2023 01:09

I love sleeping in the middle but have to "pad" both sides with bedding to feel cosy! Otherwise I'll just stick to my usual side
