3 year old tantrums constantly (& I do mean constantly)

Seriously please someone tell me if this is normal 3 year old “boy” behaviour!!!!
My recently turned 3 year old son has dramatic tantrums DAILY. Sometimes several times a day. Sometimes he’s clearly in a bad mood because he’s tired (sleeps terribly). Sometimes it’s for ridiculous reasons like he suddenly decides he doesn’t like the T-shirt he’s wearing, sometimes because he’s not allowed a second biscuit etc, he has huge meltdowns every time I drop him at nursery, but also huge meltdowns when I collect him too. He has huge meltdowns whenever we pick my elder son up from school. He has huge meltdowns whenever we go anywhere. The meltdowns consist of hysterical crying. Kicking, screaming, throwing himself on the floor. slapping and hair pulling (towards me). Throwing things.
This has been going on for a really long time, I remember thinking when he was two that it was the terrible two’s and to hang in there, a year later I am wondering if I will ever go a day without crying or shouting in frustration at the never ending hard work of raising him.
