Help! Can I leave something to slow cook in this?

Our old slow cooker broke and DH picked up a new one but it's tiny and I've just realised that the casserole I'm cooking won't fit in it!

I don't have a casserole dish, I'm going to be in all day, will it be okay to leave this on a very low heat to cook?

It should be fine but you might find a layer cooked onto the bottom.

If you're at home it will be fine.

I would give it a stir now and agin and keep an eye to see if it needs more Lodi if, but it will be fine and cook down to be very tasty.

I assume you mean leave it on the hib, rather than put in the oven?
Hob fine with regular stirring and possibly more fluid. Oven - no unless saucepan specifically states oven-safe.

Perfect, thanks everyone. Will set a reminder to stir every 45 mins, off to order a casserole dish 😂

@Seeline I meant on the hob, should have been more clear 😊 thank you!

I always thought casserole was in the oven,,
A stew was on the stove (hob) .

My dad used to cook a big Irish Stew on the hob , simmering away for when we all got in at different times and then back out again !

It will need liquid checking .

He used to add " extra diluted bisto " so the flavour didn't get diluted with all the extra water .

No. Casserole only refers to the pot it's cooked in.

Still jummy on a cold miserable day no matter how it is cooked !
