Started feeling a bit nauseous after my dinner and by 11pm was bringing up everything my stomach had ever eaten (or so it felt!). I have such a fear of sickness bugs as I know once one of us has it we all go down! Got two DC 4 and 5 and DH who aren't showing any signs yet but I'm guessing it's only a matter of time. Please help cheer me up!

hand hold here! I have a fear of sickness bugs too. They are just the worst. I find scrolling through my phone in front of an open window with a breeze takes my mind off the nausea. I hope it's short lived and no one else is struck down.

ToLongToCharge · 26/02/2023 02:58

Hopefully noone else gets it

Im sick often, normally atleast once a week
Its calmer now, at one time it was every day for about 6 months

Altho, if i do to much, or laugh alot, or even talk loads, iv got to stop and concertrate on not being sick

Really hope you manage some sleep between vomits

ToLongToCharge · 26/02/2023 03:00

Altho, that wasnt cheering you up ! Sorry

Get a bucket or bowl, with a hairband and some tissues, a towel, so the fear of not getting to the bathroom isnt there

As a PP said, can you open a window a little, even if you wrap yourself in a blanket
A cool breeze can help

Oh I’m sorry- it’s one of my biggest fears too even though I know rationally it’s NOT the end of the world. I hope it passes for you soon and no one else becomes unwell- sip water, get comfy and sleep when you can.

barbiedinosaur · 26/02/2023 03:39

Thanks everyone. Just been and stood at the window to get some fresh air and that definitely helped! I'm so thirsty that all I can think about is downing a big glass of Fanta from the fridge but I know that's the worst idea! Trying to just take some tiny sips of water and hoping the worst of it passes soon! Luckily it's just sickness so far and not the other! Although I've also been through about 20 Tena ladies tonight with the retching so I really must remember to do my pelvic floors haha

Hand hold xxx sending hugs too
Hope you start feeling better soon, have you been able to sleep? Definitely stick to water for now to give your tummy something to bring up and also hydrate. I find humming can help with feeling sick xx

SNWannabe · 26/02/2023 03:51

Also- the big fear for me with sickness bugs is getting sick- so at least you’re getting it over and done with. So IF your children are ill too, then at least you that you won’t catch it.
small victories…

For what it is worth ds partner was sick last week and ds hasn't got it...yet.
I'm emetophbic too so hand hold from me.

Dita73 · 26/02/2023 07:00

This is my biggest fear,I’m an emetophobe,so I feel terrible for you. For what it’s worth Love Heart sweets really help me with nausea. Weird I know but it’s true. I send you a metaphorical hand hold. I couldn’t do a literal one though as I’d be terrified I might catch it! Hope you’re soon feeling better 💐

I had this yesterday! No idea where it came from. I was sick three times, slept most of the day and have woken up this morning feeling like a new woman. Fingers crossed this passes just as quickly for you 🤞🏻

barbiedinosaur · 26/02/2023 07:52

Thanks everyone. The sickness stopped at about 4.30 although the nausea lingered quite a bit longer. Feel absolutely rotten and drained of energy this morning but am easily stomaching fluids so not sure if it was a bug or maybe something I ate? I suppose I'll never know but so far so good in that the rest of the household don't seem to be showing any signs of it!
