Work party after being off

Rosebel · 25/02/2023 12:52

This is more of a WWYD.
Work party tonight which I was planning to go to.
But I wasn't in work Thursday (don't work Fridays) because my dad had heart attack and we weren't really sure he'd make it so I was at the hospital Thursday. My dad's okay, well better than he was.
I guess I'm wondering if it would be really wrong to to go to a work party when I didn't go to work Thursday. What do you think?
Ironically the place where the party is is closer to the hospital than where I live if I needed to go back

I think it's absolutely fine and after what must have been a really stressful week, you deserve to go and have a good time.

Viviennemary · 25/02/2023 12:55

No I wouldnt go to the party.

ApolloandDaphne · 25/02/2023 12:55

Of course you can go. You weren't off sick, it was more a family emergency. It will probably do you good to get out and have fun for a while after having a scary time with your dad.

Changingplace · 25/02/2023 12:55

It’s absolutely fine to go, glad your dad is a bit better than he was, sounds like a night out is what you need after a tough week.

Viviennemary · 25/02/2023 12:55

No I wouldnt go to the party.

What would be your reasoning for not going?

NeedToChangeName · 25/02/2023 12:56

I think it's fine to go

Hawkins003 · 25/02/2023 12:57

As you was not off ill then I'd consider going

MyLittlePonyWellies · 25/02/2023 12:58

I wouldn't bat an eyelid if a colleague did this. It's fine to go if you want to

PatchworkElmer · 25/02/2023 12:58

I think it’s fine

Womencanlift · 25/02/2023 13:03

Absolutely fine and as a line manager I would be glad to see you there and ask you if you were ok

But if it was me I would maybe not drink and take the car in case I needed to get back to the hospital quickly (obviously only relevant if you drive)

Go and enjoy yourself

soggydigestives · 25/02/2023 13:04

Yes absolutely go and enjoy yourself. You weren't exactly skiving.

Clymene · 25/02/2023 13:05

Yes of course you should go. Hope you have a lovely time and glad your dad is doing better.

Wotcha23 · 25/02/2023 13:05

In my work they’d just be really glad to see you and hear he’s doing better.

ilovesooty · 25/02/2023 13:05

I think it's fine. You weren't off sick.

BendingSpoons · 25/02/2023 13:05

Yes go! You were off for 1 day and had a clear reason why. Plus presumably you will be back on Monday?

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 25/02/2023 13:06

Yes you should go.

BrilliantUsername · 25/02/2023 13:06

I'm sure your work will be glad you came. Go along. If anyone has an issue sod em.

Bigmummaof2 · 25/02/2023 13:17

Absolutely fine, go and enjoy yourself.

Riapia · 25/02/2023 13:21

Absolutely fine and as a line manager I would be glad to see you there and ask you if you were ok

You have been granted permission by an actual line manager, go with confidence.

chillih · 25/02/2023 14:07

Definitely fine to go!

KrisAkabusi · 25/02/2023 14:19

Don't even know why it's a question. Of course you can go!

tuckedaway · 25/02/2023 14:28

Viviennemary · 25/02/2023 12:55

fdgdfgdfgdfg · 25/02/2023 14:47
